Right, got my flights booked - looking for accommodation
Smithy - you mentioned you were looking to get some venue for accommodation identified for the Fever, any luck on that yet?
We are really struggling for chch accom. Nobody gives a shit about us because it's Cup and Show week (whatever the f**k that is)...
No plans at present Eejit, I'm focusing on drinking venues and entertainment.
Referring anyone looking for accomodation back to my previous post #44;: "Jail House" is a popular backpackers ten mins walk from the stadium with decent prices / "New City Hotel" isn't a huge distance away on the corner of Colombo and Moorhouse and quite cheap - also has a bar downstairs & is next to a mall with food outlets and a supermarket (South City Mall):

Should be a bumper crowd as the Phoenix game is officially part of "Cup and Show Week" Nov. 8 - 16
See the official Cup and Show website. See: http://www.nzcupandshow.co.nz/
Hundreds of thousands attend these Cup and Show events. Good if you enjoy a flutter on the horses.
The Nix game is the same day the racing starts. According to the website "accommodation will be at a premium."
Game promoted on Cup and Show website: http://nzcupandshow.sinuous.net/events/wellington-phoenix-fc-vs-perth-glory/
Special offer for "some special edition Wellington Phoenix Christchurch fan t-shirts" for $8 - "Numbers are limited and sizes are subject to availability. Pick up will be available from CBS Canterbury Arena from Tuesday 22 October."
Adult tickets start at $25, kids $10 which is pretty reasonable.
Make sure you arrange accommodation early as thousands come from outside the city for the races and A&P Show and accommodation is much more limited here these days.
Accommodation anywhere near AMI Stadium will be much sought after because all the horse races (Addington and Riccarton Raceways) and A&P Show (a five minute drive up the road at Canterbury Agricultural Park) are in the area.
Also all the bars will be packed.
I remember the All Whites v Australia friendly in 1995 was on during Cup and Show Week and 10,000 showed up at QE II (Harry Ngata's debut for NZ).
Cheaper accommodation in the area - The Jailhouse, 338 Lincoln Rd. :
http://reservations.bookhostels.com/jail.co.nz/index.php
November: $33 shared dorm; twin private: $44.50
New City Hotel, near corner Moorhouse Ave. and Colombo St - shared rooms (up to three) = $35 each
