I think it's hard to draw a conclusion from that game.
We looked better than the FFA cup game last year but against worse opposition. We've also got larger churn (only two players who played in that game were regular starters last year and both were fringe players at the start of the season) and have played significantly less pre-season games than this time last year (last years FFA cup game came after a hand full of games in a camp in Australia).
We've lost a lot of quality and our new players will take time to find their feet at this level. It's disappointing, we should be putting several goals past opposition like this even with a team made up of mostly debutants and second stringers but this is our first proper hit out in pre-season and the team have only played a few games together at all.
The worrying thing for me is not that we lost, it's that we're quite under cooked compared to where we were in last preseason (and we started the season pretty slowly then) and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of games on the horizon. With such a new team you'd expect us to have a lot of games lined up so that they can jell in a competitive environment, maybe a tour of China in partnership with Huawei or something like that.
