FULL NIX vs.WEST HAM MATCH ON YOU TUBE - EPL OFFICIAL CHANNEL
Full match here on You Tube - it's on the official Premier League channel !!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6UeEpXG_A0
Good publicity for the Nix and A-League. Good they've made the full match available to all on You Tube. There are several other uploads of it too.
Someones had a few too many Brown Ales.

Yep.
Pardew is actually a really nice guy (when hes not head butting people).
He was chatting with people while the team warmed up. Afterwards some people were freaking out and worrying that that they wouldnt get stuff signed and he comes over and told everyone theyd be sticking around and how important the fans were to the team.

I think we look BEAUTIFUL. I'm the one in the pink bra.
Apart from the All Blacks, I get embarrassed when others do the haka. Case in point last night. Why can't we leave it out ?
Geordies in love with Wellington - world cultural capital - Riviera of the Pacific - report:
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/foot...
This must have Wellington tourism officials in ectasy - can we now expect plane loads of Geordies to settle in Wellington?
"eh, pet, the chippies are brilliant and the beer cheap. Local football team the Nix 'aint half bad either pet...."
NEWCASTLE UNITED ARE BEING TREATED LIKE ROYALTY IN WELLINGTON
" Touched by the heartfelt tributes laid on in Dunedin for John Alder and Liam Sweenyat the Forsyth Barr Stadium and overwhelmed by the warmth and kindness of folk on the South Island, the hospitality of another friendly city was there for all to see on day four of United’s seven day stay down under.
Fresh from the clean winter air of picturesque Dunedin, United have touched down in the self-dubbed “coolest little capital in the world”. It was a boast they’re entitled to as well by the way.
With a harbour as plush as Monte Carlo F1 nut Alan Pardew can only be impressed. This place has a bit of everything.
In “Welly” there are coffee shops and cool shops like New York, capable cars that glide down to the harbour like Barcelona and friendly banter just like the Toon.
The football stadium is also based in the city centre like St James’ Park and while the winter chill in Dunedin was a shock to the system for Newcastle players and Pardew, who was worried his players could slip on the ice at the Forsyth Barr, it was mild as the teams arrived in Wellington..."

We've had two hakas and won on both occasions by the same margin, condeding late on, against superior sides, . And Dura scored the openers in both.... off the head.... at the near post... from free kicks.
Coincidence?
Yes.
Hey, pat on the back for your performance against the Hammers last night and another for Welnix's ambition in bringing out WH and Newcastle. Well done, deserved more than 20,000 spectators but at least it looks like the whole tour should break even.
Enjoy the moment, you deserve it. I see the UK media are already tearing into the Hammers. If Newcastle take them apart in Wellington then it could be bye bye Sam.
Just one thing though - some of you who seem to favour the amber liquid more than exercise should think twice about taking off your shirts on live TV. Rolls of blubber are not a good look. Perhaps a YF moderator could be brought in?
They're not playing Newcastle.
aaand I knew this post was too good to be true coming from within the knitting circle. Just had to take a stab at something didn't you?
Sorry, meant to say Sydney. It's not me taking a stab AJ13. Cut the knitting circle crap, with some of you there's just no let up is there. I was genuinely praising the Phoenix. Give the paranoia a rest.
Anyone who thinks ticket prices too high or PPV a bit shit should have a read of this:

Good piece that.
Interesting point I didn't realise, this tour covers one third of Westham's pre-season games.
Bloody hard road for Dunedin, 9.5k out of a population of 100k compared to 19k out of 1m. 9.5% v 1.9%. Dunedin event funded by taxpayers, best stadium for footie in the country.
Where is Newcastle training tomorrow ? And is it open ?

FRIDAY 25 July
9.30am -10.30am: Phoenix Open training session @ Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
11.00am-12pm – West Ham United Open training session @ Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
10.30am-12pm – Newcastle United Open training session @ Newtown Park 1, Wellington.
Dunedin was below break even for crowd numbers, Auckland was also below break even. Anyone know how many people need to be in Wellington to make this a succesful event?
I'm guessing that we wont look to bring a Premier League team over again.

What's that got to do with the fact that I don't see the value?
Don't get me wrong, I am totally stoaked that others do and hope the club make heaps of money from it, I truely do.
I just don't see the value for me or why that article (while a good read) would change my perception....

Then don't pay and don't watch. Easy as that.
Or hit the pub, was rocking at four kings last night.

Can't find the posts you're referring to on the KUMB forum; but in any case, I'm sure that any appreciative comments would have been directed at iluvnix17, who was behind me in the white bra.
I think if the club look to do something like this again they should try and get a Liverpool or an Arsenal type team.Someone with a bigger audience who will attract a bigger crowd from Asia Aussie NZ and pack out a stadium.

Maybe a single team in a cup type tournament with another A-League side or maybe even ACFC if we want to add to the NZ audience.
It's a shame that the Roar pulled out would have been better to have the raining champions involved.

Would it be worth it though? Even if we only played one game, and it was in wellington, and it sold out, would it cover the costs of such a huge name in global football? I read on the Newcastle website earlier that it cost $5m to bring Liverpool to Melbourne. But selling 90,000 tickets probably helped with that

I think if Wellington sells out it is just below break even. Don't think that accounts for PPV though.
And "just below break even" might translate to "a small cost for some damn good marketing".
Umm that non-descript training gear is their away kit for 2014/15
ok i know its about money but Im sorry the question still needs to be asked - why the hell does NUFC even need an 'away' kit when they are the only premier league team that plays in b/w stripes???
even FROM a money perspective I would have thought that since visuals are a key aspect of brand equity, the more they play in black and white the stronger the brand recognition . . . the more shirts are sold . . . the more money brought in . . . blah blah
Reported on the news tonight that their 2014/15 black & white stripey isn't ready for another week or two and that's why it wasn't worn.

I was digging around on here
I see a potential for the Nix to make even more money. A Dvd set of the two Nix games at say $20 a pop to go on sale in say three weeks time could sell. Be nice for those of us whom didnt get PPV for various reasons. Have the games in their entirity plus any interviews before and after each game.
I would expect the club to have sold a fair bit of merchandise at these games. Scarfs, tops, tees etc.
Overall, this is part of a strategy for the club to break even longer term. They would like to do these tours annually and use the profit to off-set other losses. If they don't make money they will not do them again - it's simple. There is no way they will accept a loss for "marketing" purposes

Thanks mate. No love for Sydney !
I honestly think nearly 20,000 turning out in Auckland for a Wellington team and a fading EPL name isn't too bad. I also think the 4-0 drubbing Sydney FC got the night before in Dunedin put people off, fearing the same again in Eden Park. I think that could have cost you two or three thousand bums on seats. There was also bugger all promotion in Auckland for the game.
The pity is the Phoenix's performance deserved more and it would have been great if 30,000 had turned out. But considering you've had 18,000 odd turn out for the Nix in a regular A League season game at Eden Park it appears that's about your level of interest here. Remember table topping Everton only got about 17,000 at Mt Smart when they came to Auckland in the 80s.
Had it been the All Whites against WHU then you could be talking 30,000. Auckland's a crowded sports marketplace with the Blues and Warriors.
I just hope Welnix don't lose too much on the whole tour. They've earned a lot of brownie points as far as I'm concerned for their ambition. Any chance they could take over from NZF and run NZ football? They're certainly doing a better job.
Price puts people off. Lifes expensive.

1) AWs vs WHU - 30k would be pathetic.
2) I think Gazza is trying to take over the NZF (but he has to contain the cats, unify the Korean Peninsula and restore our waterways to pre-European times first).
Here you go!
I hope Saturdays Games sell out. Bringing back memories when Beckham's LA Galaxy played and I think the attendance then was around 31000. Wellington is the True home of football
Hammers will feel right at home at the cake tin when they play sydney, there future home ground is the Olympic Stadium (big as cake tin)
Here you go!
I can see at least two Carlsbergs!
Why I was suggesting to have a look at the sportsfreak article was it sets out some of the costs. 80 x business class airfares or bwttwr from the uk. Hotel rooms for 80 for a week. Meal costs. Flights within NZ. 40 flights from Sydney. Buses at beck and call of 3 teams for a week and then appearance fees plus stadium hire costs. Pretty easy I would have thought to see why ticket costs are what they are.
Someone suggested bringing out a top flight side such as Liverpool. It is runoured their fee for one match in Melbourne last year was 5m. Victory needed to sell 90000 tickets to make that work.
if we want EPL opposition here this is the price you have to pay. Given they are so close to budgeted crowd numbers shows they really have it spot on in my view

That's not right though is it, you wouldn't spend a year's worth of work and all the time and effort on a tour like this to break even (even with spin off benefits of exposure etc). They're doing to to make money - they will be very disappointed if they only break even.
