"Double-dipping", if you'll keep up with marketing science, is the wave of the future. It's "sell a lot of things to a hard core" rather than "sell a few things to a mass market" - like formerly big rock bands deluging their die-hard fan base with merchandise, box sets, etc. It's a viable business option.
