Pretty poor from the Phoenix. Would have been a great chance to turn some casual watchers into fans and could have been a really exciting event for the whole country but of course they have found a way to fuck that up. Who is going to pay out for it really on top of what they aready pay for Sky? Anyone who was going to go is going.

No. Some people might have decided to stay at home to watch it on Sky. Now there is a cost to that. So they might be enticed to attend now as being at home is less attractive.

So they may choose to pay $75 per person plus the transport/parking and food/drink to go to one game instead of $40 or going to the pub to watch all of them? No, instead they'll not pay for it out of principle.

Not sure it's very well thought out. The casual fan who may have watched it at home now won't. What will likely actually happen is the Four Kings and a few other pubs in Wellington will buy the games, a few pubs in Auckland will buy them and virtually noone at home will. So they'll actually make bugger all money from it and piss off a lot of casual fans who maybe couldn't pay out these ticket prices for the whole family but may have gone to some games in the season when it's a third of the price. Maybe fair enough to encourage people in Wellington, Auckland and Dunedin to go to the games but what about the rest of the country?
