Still we need to improve so much to take on Adelaide away

As soon as I turn my telly off at 1 minute to go we score. I must be the bad luck charm.

I thought we were very lethargic today. Heat and lack of Daniel + Felipe (1/2 the game) probably contributed. Thought it was a bad idea from the start to only have 1 day to acclimatise to QLD conditions.

We had absolutely no intensity going forward. Our defence lacked concentration. (though I don't think you can blame them too much for the 2nd goal - we were down to 10 men after O'Dor was kicked in the face). They hung off the Brisbane players all game and invited them to shoot. In contrast, they were all over us.

Think it's the worst i've seen us play by a long shot. Even the CCM game we played better I reckon.

Definately a Wellington team - great one week and absolutely sh*te the next.

hate to say it, but the ref lost the plot a bit towards the end with those yellows for dodd and reinaldo, neither where fouls even, and he found yellow cards, even tho they both took the ball

yeah I would agree he was also a little inconsistent with his advantage at times. It was almost like he didn't want the game to flow.

Anyone notice that regular season is somewhat mirroring pre season??

We lost 2-0 to CCM pre season. Lost 3-0 regular.
We lost 2-1 to QLD pre season. Lost 2-1 regular.
Beat Melbourne 2-1 pre season. 2-2 regular.
Beat Sydney 3-0 pre season. 2-1 regular.

All the same results apart from Melbourne :o

Don't think it would've mattered how good the ref was tonight. They were the better team by a long way. Think we just have to admit that and focus on the next game.

not a very satisfactory start - wgn with their usual slow start at the back and so conceding an early goal, but no Daniel flair to fight in the midfield to get the ball forward to equalise .... and Felipe marked out of the match ...

maybe we had Reinaldo down as the danger man and didn't notice the 2 youngsters who scored (they didn't look old enough  to be taken seriously)

I think Ricki's going to have to do some work on set-pieces. Our set-pieces were absolutely sh*thouse tonight.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

True. I don't want to say it but We should've lost by way more.

Our set pieces haven't been very good all year, to be fair. The best i've seen is pre season v Melbourne where we took a quick free kick.

agreed - Aloisi came over as usual to talk to the rlevent striker, but the kicks went nowhere (lack of Wellington swirling wind perhaps? :)  )

At the end of the day you dont deserve to win with 2 shots on goal.

I agree. Don't remember ever seeing a team score with  so few chances

This conceding an early goal sh*t has to stop.  Away from home it's mentally crushing.  How about that for stating the obvious?  Thanks for the call.  God bless... Stevo2007-10-06 01:12:25

Don't think anyone on here's daring to suggest we should have won. Lost to a  better team on the night.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

what's the chances Daniel will get the call for the next match .... and maybe play Paston (if only for Ricki to get the journos off his back)?

...and it wasn't as if there were other shots. There was only one shot, on target or off target,  in the whole 90 mins, no wides, no near misses, nothing. (.........and a goalmouth scramble in the 92nd minute)

100%? He's only suspended for 1 game. I hope Elrich is fit enough - gonna need someone to replace Felipe for a few weeks I think. He should have got off the field 5 minutes earlier - all he did was aggravate it further.

How did George go.

The midfield did not work today. At all.

Defense was a bit flat footed.

Those youngsters arent all their cracked out to be - commentators wanted to marry them. Ref was sh*te. How many fouls does he want to give before showing them a yellow? They were all over Felipe.

I saw more of Tim Brown on the bench than I did on the field

Not too bad. Only one with a bit of spark, should've probably got a goal were it not for a sh*te referee/linesman error

I'm suprised that Johnson and Aloisi didn't put the young debutants under any pressure. They had a free run out there. Not sure why no one was trying to muscle them off the ball??

George seemed to be one of the only players consistently trying to make runs.

George, while he tries to get around abit, i think its evident he's not up to the level skills wise.

Why? Seemed alright to me. Hes no Felipe, but  hes another option to Smeltz and Covs

our dead balls were dissapointing. Didnt make it past the first man.
With Felipe injured next week, someone is gonna have to step up. Throw on Elrich.

Was I the only one who thought that Qld employed some dirty tactics such as targeting Felipe (got away with two awful fouls that I saw) and then taking no less than 3 dives which were clearly fake and succeeded in delaying the game time and getting Dodd a yellow card?

I thought Zullo deserved a yellow card at the least for purposefullly taking out Felipe and tugging on his shirt?

I was quite surprised in reading through this. It seemed pretty obvious that they weren't playing a fair game to me...

Didn't change how dreadful we were though.

We're gonna struggle if we keep conceding early, starting to become a bit of a worry. Thought we lacked creativity as well in the middle of the park, pretty poor performance

Come on guys - we know that Rome wasn't built in a day. All things considered, 2-1 is not so bad. The team is still settling down [yes even after 7 games]. We have the talent, we have the management, and MORE importantly, we have the supporters - enough of this negative rubbish, battles are won on historic experience, this minor defect in our strategy is but one of those lessons, that we ALL must learn, after all it means that we will get a bigger gate, when we win our next game.
