Pretty sure Stuttgart isn't his only option. I'm sure he's looking at a number of clubs. If this was an All Black and we had a decent football journalist, we would be all over his movements

News.com.au is reporting that rojas has signed with stuttgart and that announcements due today in Germany.

Be interesting to know what the transfer fee is going to be. Phoenix will get 1% of that.

I thought there was no transfer free, as he is out of contract

Don't you still get solidarity payments - or is that only where there is a transfer fee?

Read that MV got 180k. We would get something too surely.

We should get roughly the same as Melbourne i think.

Isn't it spread out based on the teams he played for previously so his club team and Waikato FC will get a little bit aswell.

Nothing like what clubs are getting for Wood, but still a little is better than nothing.

One big money transfer for a young kiwi could literally provide a clubs budget for years.

VfB have committed Marco Rojas. The 21-year-old offensive player on a free transfer from Melbourne Victory to VfB and signs a contract until 2017. "Marco has just been voted player of the year in Australia., but not the only reason he noticed us. He is a player's offensive on the outside positions is well used and by its speed offers, "says the Head of Sports, Fredi Bobic, and adds:" In preparation it will be exciting to see how quickly he can get used to, among others, the pace in Germany. " Marco Rojas looking forward to the change:

"My father and I have talked with the leaders of VfB and they have expressed that they would be glad to have me here. For a player, it's a great thing when a club gives you that you absolutely have it want., it is certainly a challenge. "

Had never noticed how bad Marco's English is before.

Well done Marco. A four year deal with a regular top 10 club in one of Europes top League is really great for a kiwi kid. I hope that he settles in well and does a good job and gets regular first team action.

If you look at the Stuttgart player roster site they have a team with lots of international players. It appears that loads of their attacking players are big tall guys. Most sound like central strikers.....maybe thats why they hired Marco. To do a creative job down the flanks.

What ever the outcome he will get well paid.....four years on a million $$$+ salary will set him nicely......can we have our YF sponsor money back please Marco?

4 years is great

Great stuff. I'm guessing he won't get a game this season? Next season starts pretty early over there in August though so there isn't that long before he will get a chance.

I reckon it will be at least a year before we see him get much game time.

Yeah, a four year contract would seem to indicate that.

Which is a good thing.

can we lobby SKYnz to show some bundesliga games in nz? Even highlights would be great. Would love to see marco play aswell as another top league.

I agree. Also, there seemed to be interested from 'bigger' clubs and I think he did very well in choosing a very, very good club, but not a top-european side. Obviously we don't know if a top side would have signed him, but I still think he made the right choice.

Hope he goes well during pre-season - be nice to see him in action sooner rather than later

for sure! there used to be highlights on Stratos...would rather have a few games than just a highlights package though- want to see Marco if he gets to play against Dortmund or Munich...Or Kruse for that matter....

Happy for the young fella and NZ football in general.

Some really good news lately with Wood making the play offs, Smith and Reid getting fan players of the year and now Rojas signing to play in Gernmany... not to mention another surplus.

Quality.

We get 1% from any transfer fee that Marco commands for the rest of his career.
