There was a lot of slipping over in that match, not just Paston. He was well beaten even if he had kept his footing, through the fault of our defence.
I never understand why keepers move out of the goal when in those situations, I can understand moving up to try and cut out the pass, but surely not leaving an open goal for the tap in makes more sense?
To try and cut down the cross, rather than the easy tap in I'd say. Odds of success on stopping the tap in in that situation aren't great, you have a better shot at cutting out the pass. Besides if you just leave the man with the ball alone, you give him just as much space and time to either knock it in the net or make the pass.
