Good press conference from Uffie on the A League website. He sounds very single minded, positive about player and prospects.

Did you notice the bit where he said he wasn't worried about their eight-match winless streak, as a lot of that was last season, "a long time ago," then in his next answer pointed to his players' performances last season as a reason why he has faith in them to turn things around and deal with the challenging run ahead? I enjoyed that bit.

Is that a contradiction though? Doesn't look like it to me. We've seen that losing 4 games at the start of the season isn't the end of the world and that the players in this squad have history of turning a poor start around. That's a very different thing to assuming that the current form of a football team carries across multiple months and MIQ periods.

It just tickled me that in one answer he was dismissing the relevance of last season's results then in the next he was leaning on them. Couple of big names (Steinmann, Taylor) missing from last season too.

I mean, if you choose to misinterpret it like that? He's talking about entirely different things in entirely different contexts, seems silly to conflate the two, even if it is "tickling".
