I'm pretty worried about Australia's controls at the border. From what I gather we have physical separation -- we either have separate terminals for red zone countries and green zone countries or we've built physical barriers within our terminals. In Australia they don't have this separation, and rely on people following instructions and for instructions to be given accurately.

Right now, with all the issues Australia is having keeping their border secure it seems like there's a pretty good chance that the border will close before or immediately after the game so I'd say it's even odds whether it's going to go ahead or not.

I flew Auckland to Brisbane 2 weeks ago, and it was easy. Complete separation on our green zone flight from the red zone in Brissy Airport.

International terminals in both Airports deadly quiet. Without knowing what systems they have in Australian airports it shouldn't be hard to keep red & green zone passengers separated, with so few flights and passengers around. The Brisbane Airport incident (day after I arrived) with 2 PNG red zone arrivals getting into the Green Zone, was acknowledged as human error, and some lessons learnt apparently.

Remembering the whole green zone/red zone in international terminals is fairly new. But with so few passengers roaming around the Green Zone, and people wearing masks, the chance of anyone else being infected is pretty low.

Sydney where Nix will depart from, and arrive back into will definitely be busier - but again I think risk of another Airport incident will be low.

The risk of new community cases popping up again in either NZ or Aussie, leading to local lockdowns, and flight suspensions is greater.

And read somewhere that the Aussie border control systems are now working as good as, if not better than NZ. Based on some sort of per capita, cases leaking through the border type stat.
