I must admit to being uncomfortable with the "Praise the Lord"/"Saluting the heavens" comments/gestures which seem to be the 'de rigueur' response to many top sports performances. I could understand it, if every time they had a bad performance they'd curse the devil just as publicly, ideally in a John Cleese/Basil Fawlty style
