I for one will be mostly wearing yellow or something with a phoenix colour mix when in the Zone. My passion for West Ham has not diminished simply because I also support my local team. EPL rivalry exists; can't deny that but as a responsible NZ resident I owe it to my country of choice to model the behavior I've come to prize in this fair land. There now, colours nailed to mast! COYN!
Maybe I have missed something but what was the point of this post cause all I see is trying to re-open something from a week ago.

I think you have missed something.
There's no attempt to reopen anything here.
He used to wear a West Ham shirt, and he's just stating that, for his own reasons (wnad it doesn't matter what they are) he's come to the point where he's now going to wear Phoenix colours in the zone instead.
That's great.
He'll still be a Hammer, and he'll wear West Ham gear at other times, as he should...
...but one more person has embraced the Nix to one more level, and that's just fantastic.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.
So how am I going to know who to throw bottle caps at now?

There's a guy over near where Lonegunmen sits who's a jumped up upstart, starting chants etc. He used to be a Victory fan... try and run him out of the ground I reckon, and anyone he's been bringing with him*.

Normally I wouldn't, but given how the recent YFF version of the Liverpool banner incident diverged so massively from what actually happened (as discussed by the parties involved before the game yesterday) I felt the need to in this case.

Yes, handshakes and apologies. Everyone ended up smiling and ready to enjoy the game.
And WHAT a game it turned out to be.

I must admit to being uncomfortable with the "Praise the Lord"/"Saluting the heavens" comments/gestures which seem to be the 'de rigueur' response to many top sports performances. I could understand it, if every time they had a bad performance they'd curse the devil just as publicly, ideally in a John Cleese/Basil Fawlty style

I'm uncomfortable with expressions of faith in a post-match interview when it's a team sport being played by players with differing religious beliefs, creeds and varying levels of faith/devotion.

Surely that is what true tolerance is about though, allowing someone to express their beliefs whilst having your own.
If he scores goals for us, he can say he worships a big turd for all I care.

Absolutely this.
It infers that he believes that "god" helped him/rewarded him for his faith, or that he could not have done what he did without god.
Which infers that he believes others who do not believe in his god are not getting such help/reward.
Which infers that he believes others in his team who do not share his views are being disadvantaged by god.
Which is disrespectful and/or discriminatory.
Not to mention it is ridiculous and does not stand up to logical scrutiny to infer that god affects the activities of the faithful in sports (or in any other part of life).
I find it offensive.

So what about blokes who thank their Mum / Girlfriend / Wives?
His belief in his God probably does effect his performance, just as players superstitions do ( Lacing up your left boot last, sitting in the same chair, walking out last etc) take that away from them and it would effect their performance too (possibly).
I agree it is totally illogical but us being in second place with the best defensive and attacking records right now is also illogical!

If it's someone's lifestyle to praise Jesus Christ, Buddha, L. Ron Hubbard, God Almighty under his various aliases of JHVH, Allah, Vishnu, or the damned Flying Spaghetti Monster, I don't care as long as they don't tell me I have to do the same thing. I don't share Rory Fallon's bizarrely superstitious beliefs, but apparently believing in Jesus got him off the booze, which must be good.
Let's put it this way - when I see a European player make the Sign of the Cross after scoring a goal, or the Palestinian national team bowing in prayer on the centre circle before a game, I think "awww, that's sweet", rather than being offended at all. If they started yelling at me that I was immoral for wearing short skirts, then I'd be offended.

Rory Fallon might get ridiculed as a footballer by some but as a person, you can't fault him for being a nice guy. If that is a product of his faith, I'd rather that than being just another drunken lout footballer so it does not bother me. If he wants to bash his bible and Tyler wants to praise the Sun God of Rah, go for it as long as he is not telling me I have to do the same. Besides, he seems like a nice kid and like Rory, if that's a product of his faith then I prefer that to some smarmy little shark footballer that is all mouth and no trousers talking about how the "2 goalz showed his reel skillz and Ernie can eat a dick y'all."

Rah was a Sun God - it wasn't a place, he never came from Rah. Get your 5th dynasty Egyptian deities sorted out this is a football forum for ffs.
