Anyone got a link to some game highlights? I sadly missed it due to being grossly intoxicated.

Btw,Thanks Nix players for the biggest marketing contribution so far to a great crowd v Brisbane Roar here at the RoF next week.

I think with a win, we probably don't have too much to whinge about when we could have finished with 10 and Siggy suspended. I'll take the yellow and a not given pen over a player suspension and a guaranteed win (agreed its not right, but it could be worse if he was competent and with 10 v 11 and their pressure at the end.........)

Sometimes an incompetant referee is not a bad thing.... er....

How they saw it in Adelaide...

WELLINGTON Phoenix issued Adelaide United a lesson on personality in a fabulous 2-1 win at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Phoenix displayed all the qualities that have been synonymous with past Adelaide sides after the Reds crashed to its fifth loss at home this season scoring just seven goals and conceding 16 at a place once considered a fortress.

But after Bruce Djite started the Friday night clash in spectacular fashion - one chance, one goal after 10 minutes of play - the night turned sour for the Reds.

Djite scored from a rebound after Serginho van Dijk rode a tackle before the ball rolled nicely to the striker after Dario Vidosic was blocked inside the box.

But Adelaide again played itself back into trouble with defending perhaps worthy of a FIFA technical group study.

Tim Brown equalised for Phoenix in the 14th minute before Dani Sanchez made it 2-1 seven minutes before the break.

But before Brown scored, the width of the post saved Phoenix from going two goals down when van Dijk's header crashed onto the woodwork from a Vidosic free kick.

Less than 60 seconds later Phoenix was on level terms.

Vidosic was easily dispossessed in Wellington's half before a long ball to Paul Ifill left Adelaide's defensive men stranded after the Reds played a high line without pressing the man with the ball.

Ifill brought the ball down in the left flank and fed Brown - the goal was simple yet made Adelaide look second rate.

Adelaide to its credit pushed forward with Cassio - returning to the pitch for the first time since November after a long injury lay off was rewarded with loud cheers when he touched the ball for the first time in months.

Evgeniy Levchenko's first start since November was another milestone but the Reds defence reserved the loudest groans of disbelief when Sanchez scored with an unchallenged header.

Osama Malik gave a way a cheap foul when he brought Manny Muscat down before the Reds played a dodgy offside trap which failed when the defence stepped up too late from an Alex Smith cross.

Ben SigmUnd then added some entertainment value when he clashed heads with Osama Malik in the 57th minute after Vidosic's free kick was met by the holding midfielder but sailed over the bar.

SigmUnd's head was bleeding profusely but when a bandage stemmed the flow, he found time to gesture to fans in Hindmarsh's 'Snake Pitt' crossed the line twice without getting booked before referee Gerard Parsons allowed the All White back on the park.

Just six minutes later SigmUnd almost scored on his 31st birthday from substitute Daniel's free kick.

But Ifill's party piece - crashing a 20m drive against the crossbar after beating Malik and Levchenko - would have been the goal of the season before Phoenix consolidated second place with 33 points.

Ifill then should have been awarded a spot kick six minutes from time but Parsons allowed play to go on when the Barbados international had his legs taken inside the box.

Anyone know what happened to Ifill's TAB Sport Badge on his arm!? By the end of the game the writing had worn off or something?

Can also point a lot of blame at Smith for letting his man get in behind him

I thought it was Lochead defending Djite on the left not Smith (I might have been mistaken though)?

In saying that whoever it was they were ball watching and defending a bit to wide so Djite was able to make his run into the box unmarked and we know the result.

Still a great win away for us, the boys are really starting to hit their straps, roll on next weekend.

Probably sacreledge to suggest it but Dura got dragged a long way out of position by Djite, then did not track his run back towards the box

Also the first time ever they have come from behind to win on the road - apparently.

In post-match Slater was describing how at Nix training the worst trainer of the day has to bare their backside while the rest of the team, in Slater's words "has a go at it". This somewhat ambiguous info resulted in much girlish giggling from Mel.

Another interesting stat. This was the first time we have scored 2 goals in an away game since the March 2010 loss to Sydney in the Preliminary final. 2-4.

Just read on 442 that this was our second win in Hindmarsh in nine attempts (heard this somewhere else too).  Usually, I've got a photographic memory when it comes to Phoenix wins - but can't remember for the life of me our first win at Hindmarsh/The Former Phoenix Valley of Footballing death.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Wow.Thanks for that share RR. What a superb diving header from Greenie that was. As for Manny's last ditch save, (he's good at that) cannoning off the crossbar..sensational!! What was he thinking..??!! makes for great Nix memories. That game was the beginning of the end of the Adelaide away hoodoo for us.
