I'm guessing with the 7s being on this weekend.
Plenty of people will be in town and 4Kings will be packed while the Phoenix game is on.

Shall be fun making plenty of noise again.

Will be interesting to see who the favs will be for this game. Will it be us given our recent turn around in away form, lofty 2nd spot on table and Adelaides shocking general form - even at home, or will they pin us to our historic away record?

TAB currently has:

1          Adelaide Utd     2.30
2          Wellington Phoenix     2.90
3          Draw     3.30

Not too bad...might slip some coin on the Nix...I need $$ for one of those Trademe shirts!ashby2012-02-01 11:38:28

As long as they keep spending it on promo girls at home games, I'm happy.

How far away is Lia? Is he likely to come straight back in to starting 11 when's he's right or will they give him a bench spot?
Bench for Lia... Smith has improve the team...not missing Lia

Thought our lack of first half dominance was because they were waltzing through the midfield and we were getting pushed off the ball too easily.

Smith is good in the air and can pass, and seems to think on the ball. Nice dribble on attack too.martinb2012-02-01 18:20:45

Assuming Mrs Manny has him handcuffed to her bedside I assume Lia will slot straight in for Manny at RB.

I'm guessing Ward will take Lia's spot on the bench - if his injury has come right.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Who travelled with the squad? I know Leo made it back, and Muscat is a maybe, but there must have been one more added to the squad in case Muscat cant play?

Ward? Pavlovich? Lindsay?

Muscat Doubt For Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert has not ruled out Manny Muscat taking his place at right back against Adelaide United on Friday night.

The defender, whose wife Rebecca is due to give birth to the couple's first child any day now, made an unexpected return from Melbourne last Sunday to play in Wellington's 3-1 win over Melbourne Heart before returning to the Victorian capital early the following day.

And a similar scenario could unfold later this week although it's still too early for Herbert to tell.

"We will give him a little bit of peace and see where he is tomorrow," Herbert said.

"I think it's probably a lot closer to the other side of things happening for him. But the good thing is it's only an hour flight and we can get him back pretty quickly as well.

"Let's wait and see. I don't want to make any promises. We know where he is at and if we can get him fantastic."

Vince Lia is once again on standby to slot into the back four should Muscat be unavailable.

While the Maltese international hopes to be celebrating fatherhood, fellow defender Tony Lochhead will chalk up his 100th game for the Phoenix on Friday night.

Following in the footsteps of Tim Brown and Daniel, Lochhead is the third member of the inaugural Phoenix squad to bring up his century.

The New Zealand left back has fond memories of his debut game for the Wellington club in 2007.

"It was the game against Melbourne Victory. We were down 2-0 and we came back and tied it up and there was a really good turnout (at Westpac Stadium)," he said.

"It's really good to get to 100 games."

The first season provided another milestone for Lochhead. In round six he scored in the 4-1 win over Perth Glory his only goal for the club to-date.

With Muscat having broken his goal-scoring duck in his 85th game for the Phoenix a couple of weeks ago against Newcastle Jets attention has now turned to Lochhead whose barren run stretches to 93 matches.

"I got reminded a couple of days ago that I'm probably due another one," he said with a smile.

"I probably had a good chance in the last game and I blew it. I blazed it over the top. I'll see if I get any more opportunities and hopefully put one of those away."

I reckon that if we can beat Adelaide tomorrow then we have a great chance of going all the way. My only concern is that the Reds on their day can beat anyone, and although they lost to Perth last week, I thought they were by far the better side.I cannot believe that the Glory are as high in the league as I don't think they are good enough.Without Miller I doubt they would have achieved this level.

Why experiment? It's not like we have been performing badly or anything, and we don't keep throwing away leads in a disgusting manner.

^^ this

no changes required unless manny doesnt come through

confidence must be high, cmon lads, if we managed to win this it'd be massive but i'd be ok with an away point

we need to win all our home games and that will be tough in itself with roar/ccm heading here

away points are gold, lets go boys

love the stability and consistency for most of our starting eleven, never seen two pages of match thread with no lineup guessing/suggesting...

I just emailed Terry Madaford and said:

Hi Terry, I thought I'd take the time to email you and say how much I am enjoying the upbeat and balanced coverage you've been giving the Phoenix lately. Long may it continue.

And just got a nice reply from him thanking me.

I know we shouldn't be too picky after we have won 3 in a row but I do get a bit nervous with Brown playing so high up the field for large parts of the game. Defensively it often leaves us a man short at the back. so far it has not cost us too much but the way opposition sides have waltzed through our midfield means that one day it will really hurt us. Tera,s goal for the Heart was a good example. Often it has just been the brilliance and experiance of our back 4(and Pasty) that has saved a goal.
