Agree on musa, ricki needs to get this guy signed tonight or someone will snap him up after this world cup and it will be another one who got away

the guy just looks class the way he moves and is a beast at the back

Maybe Musa wants to be unattached at the WC so he's easily available if an overseas team is interested after seeing him there. You can't make a guy sign who doesn't want to. This may not be the case, but it is a possibility - it's easy to blame the club without knowing all the info.

Would definitely want him re-signed, and have wanted to see Lovemore picked up since last preseason in Hamilton v. Roar.aitkenmike2011-07-17 18:29:14

pretty sure there was a story on him a while back, and he was just saying he wanted to try and secure any professional gig he could now he wasn't contracted to the nix.
He sounded a little desperate and I got the feeling he was the one who got dumped. Think he would jump at the chance to get another contract.

Tv3 had good coverage. Talked about NZu20 reject and phoenix trialist Cory Chettleburg and then showed the goals. Ifill rates the kid in the top 3 or 4 players in the country.

Musa is incredibly one footed - often having to play across his body rather than use his right - also passing options consisted of hoof it out or hoof it long.

Dakota Lucas was probably the standout for me -ran hard, closed down players, didn't stop running and created a goal.

From what i understand Musa hasn't been offered a new contract could be down to money or the club doesn't like him. Probably the latter!

I've seen Cory Chettleburgh play in the past and I thought he was decent. I fail to understand how someone can make the NZu20 team as a 16 year old and not when he is 19. I guess that's NZF for you!

Mate of mine was sideline fo the Oceana qual's and said Chettleburgh through his toys on the sideline after being subbed in a match (possibly the final?) - could explain his non selection by Milicich.

Interested to hear people's thoughts about Musa and how well he apparently did in the game.

Now, he's not been re-signed because he's not up to the A-league level, and I'd say it's a pretty certain bet he won't be signed again. Which begs the question - if he's head and shoulders above everyone else in that U20 squad, do we really want to be signing any of those players?

Ethan Galbraith? Dear Lord. If you guys thought Pav was having a hard time in the A-league, wait to see these guys.

if what you say is correct about Musa (which does surprise me) then it is hard to fault your logic

I agree if musa, does not deserve a contract then no NZ under 20 player on display yesterday deserves one

however I think he may be good enough for the A-League, just got dropped in the deep end in a position which is not his preference.

Thats because they prefer to pick big physical plodders who can tackle and hoof it long rather than small skillful players who can hold the ball pass along the ground and be creative. I hope Chettleburgh gets one of the youth spots with the Nix. I've watched him a lot play for manawatu and he has potential. Very confident player who likes to take on the opposition. Not scared to track back either and has an aggresive streak to him.

I was at the game and actually thought that Andy Bevin was a standout. Musa is a big physical presence but he seems pretty clumsy, hard to judge off just one game

I think Chettleburgh would be a good fit for the nix. My only issue is we already have Lia, Brown, Muscat and another midfielder on the way. It'd be almost not beneficial for him to warm the benches(if that) for us.

Although with Lia or Brown dropping down to the bench this season, he would only be one injury or suspension away from that bench spot. I think its 50/50 on him, if hes good enough

Is Lovemore still a possibility? We have the 'young, fast, raw attacking player that doesn't play a lot then buggers off to another club after 2 years' slot to fill

Said from the start that if Musa got a fair shot at CB with say, Dura beside him he'd develop into an alright player.valeo2011-07-18 20:51:51

Is Cory not going back to Holland.

Little disappointed if he was dropped for throwing his toys... surely there are other ways he could be punished without weaking the team just prior to a u20 World Cup.

Just finished work and drove passed the Nix training. Was interesting to watch.

Not to sure who the Right back was?? Downey was on the other side

Downey was on the right all day - Triallist Nick Tsattalios on the left.
Played well i thought

Downey was fast. Motoring up the right flank like Hearfield was supposed to but usually didn't.

The right back for the NZ U20s was Ant Hobbs, wasn't it? Blond fellow, did a good job marking Leo and Iffy?
