Has Ahmad sorted all of that himself? Organised all of the signings? That is unbelievable. If the club aren't paying him/saluting him in some way then they should be ashamed.
Ahmad - you are the man!
Hey thanks for the nice comments. Just for the sake of clarity I just want to explain my involvement in these things.
Signings were not arranged by me - I am simply broadcasting those announcements as soon as I was able to.
Saturday's Festival of Football was organised and co-ordinated by me, with moral support by the club. No players were available for this but I already knew this before organising it. The concept of FoF was to have our game spotlighted in the heart of the city to raise its profile and legitimise the sport, with a by product of drawing attention to the game (and football in general) to passerby in town.
While I have done a lot of work for FoF I wish to give huge thanks for the undying support and assistance provided by - DCC Events co-ordinator Marilyn Anderson for her vast experience and knowledge, Otago Event Traffic Management for providing an affordable traffic management plan, Melchester Junior Football Club for providing the BBQ for their fundraiser sausage sizzle, Olly Bowman for providing his time to put on a show and teach kids freestyle, Melchester and Futsal South for providing some parent and referee support to manage crowds on the day, and to Nixie for making an appearance. Thanks also to the Mayor for agreeing to open our event! And to the Radio Network for providing announcer support/MC for the event.
March to the Match was proposed by someone at the Club and I did the organisation for that including booking of the Octagon area, seeking approval from council and university.
The bars specials were arranged by me but obviously with huge support from DB and the involved bar managers.
I'm not posting this to blow my trumpet. I just want to make sure I'm not attributed with more than I have actually done. I wouldn't have posted this if it wasn't for your post bopman - all good that you posted that though!
Also for some reason some have an impression that I'm being paid by the Club. I'm not paid by the club but they definitely look after me when I visit Wellington (in non-financial ways). I wouldn't expect any payment either. I'm doing this out of love, and the ultimate repayment comes in sharing good and not so good times with the team and management - hopefully we have some successes to share in the near future.
Cheers everyone. Off to airport soon to welcome the boys into town. COYN, don't stop believin'
