Will Four Kings be showing this instead of the probable Australia v South Africa game?

I would think they would show both at the same time, but play the Nix commentary, just like they are doing this weekend with RWC and the Warriors - playing both but NRL commentary.

Bench: Warner, Tsattalios, Brown, Bertos

Possibly swap Brown and Dirty, Bertos for Greeny and move Ifill to the centre.

Not sure playing someone on crutches is a wise move.

Love the first post, but yes Pantelis is out unfortuantely. Would have taken that as my lineup as well though. But cant see Browny not starting tbh.

Oh and as a nitpicky detail, siggy plays on the right and dura on the left.

I don't really like the 4-3-3. It catered well to the team we had last year as it suited Rojas who was our main attacking threat but could only play a quite limited number of positions. But it seems like we constantly lose the midfield battle with it  and I don't think Ifill, Bertos or Pantellis will be as much off an attacking threat from out wide as the judai was. I would rather play a 4-4-2 with a diamond in the middle. It caters well to our wing backs who both get forward well, the two forwards can play off each other and we should get more possession and be harder to get through in the middle. I wouldn't be adverse to switching to a 4-3-3 later in the game if we were behind, when you are pressing defensively it can be quite effective, just don't want to start with it.

Thanks...so I guess Bertos on the left then.

Who does Brown replace? Sanchez is direct position rival but at the same level of ability. I realise now about Durante and Siggy and yes should be other way around, it was Siggy and Downey combining ever so spectacularly at Tauranga.

I would like to see Sanchez start, but I doubt it as Ricki is a big TB fan. But personally I believe Danny will be on the bench.

Ricki has said that he rates Sanchez but because of his injury prone pre-season, he is still not up to full potential. I am not sure if I believe this statement, but think it is a way RH can justify leaving him on the bench for now.
Ricki has always gone for his favorites, and lets players try and impress off the bench with 20 minutes to go which is often challenging.

Sounds like Sanchez did ok today, so maybe Ricki will be more inclined to start him?

           Paston

        Sigs Dura
Moosecat            TLoch

        Brown Ward

Bertos   Sanchez   Ifill

        Greenacre

Warner
Downey
Lia
Daniel

Although we should have a striker by then to start/push someone off the bench.

You know we belong together...

starting brown ward and sanchez as the midfield three would be interesting.

Downey looks set to be out with injury so Moosecat will play RB. Which means sanchez will get his chance to shine.

Interesting as we are against GCU, where Sanchez would have been playing for this year if GCU had their way, plus Rigters who could have been playing for us.

I'd rather play Lia as a start than brown...he didnt exactly do a lot on Sunday and some clumsy tackles

As would I.

I doubt Wardy will be playing. May make the bench however.
There is a distinct lack of striking options on the bench for us in the assuming situation of Greenacre starting.

I think the starting line up is already determined. The bench is almost going to choose itself, unless we can get in a new signing this week and injury replacements. But as it stands it would be:

Warner
Griffiths/ Tsatalios
Ward
Daniel

I would be inclined to put Tsatalios on the bench over Griffiths. As I understand it, he can play both left and right back, so could be an option if we decide we need manny's cover in the middle.

Rigters eyes Phoenix clash

Uncertainty could still be playing on the minds of Wellington this weekend in the wake of their recent ownership troubles, according to Gold Coast United striker Maceo Rigters.

Uncertainty could still be playing on the minds of Wellington this weekend in the wake of their recent ownership troubles, according to Gold Coast United striker Maceo Rigters.

A consortium of businessmen known as Welnix Ltd are now in control of the Phoenix, and are quickly trying to bring about a sense of stability to the club after Terry Serepisos last week stepped down and relinquished his ownership.

The financial crisis may be over but coach Ricki Herbert is still scrambling to complete the necessary signings to bring his roster to the required minimum of 20 players - meaning whatever squad he brings to Skilled Park on Sunday could well be unsettled by the new additions.

Former Blackburn Rovers marksman Rigters - who spent a number of days on trial with the Phoenix in August but could not agree to terms - hopes United will capitalise on that in his debut for the glitter strip club.

"I've heard they've been having some troubles with ownership and it might be playing on their mind," the Dutchman said.

"That could work for us - or against us. You never know, with football."

Rigters had a taste of the unpredictability of football - and the unpredictability of Wellington in the final weeks of Serepisos' reign - during his time with the Phoenix.

After one training session and scoring their only goal in their 5-1 friendly loss to Brisbane, his trial was cut short after the realisation that the New Zealand club could not match his contractual demands.

That did little to please Rigters, who was annoyed by apparent miscommunication between player and club - but in retrospect, he said the breakdown in talks probably came as a result of their ownership crisis.

"I didn't know about the problems the club had, but that might have been the reason," he said.

"I wasn't there for long. They promised me one thing and when I got there, after 36 hours on a plane, they gave me something else."

"I'm a man of my word and I expect people to be like that as well. We were talking about contracts and we didn't make it in the end. But that's football."

But Rigters, who was top scorer at the 2007 UEFA Under-21 Championship, was full of praise for the players at the Phoenix and expects a tough time of it on Sunday.

"I liked the guys there and I look forward to seeing them again - I know they have a good team," he said.

"They were a very professional club and the players were great professionals, mature and it was all good."

"The training was hard too. Of course, the first game for me is against them and I'll try and make some goals."

"I'm not 100 percent fit, but I'm almost there and I'm ready to play 90 minutes."

United have also named Dutch midfielder Paul Beekmans and Kiwi shotstopper Glen Moss as deputies to captain Michael Thwaite.

When abouts do the team leave for the glitter strip?
Kind of seems silly that Alex Smith + Ward + u21 players would fly over here then fly back to goldcoast straight away. Not gonna put them in the best shape

What about this:
--------------Paston-------------
Downey-Durante-Sigmund-Lochhead--
--------Lia------Muscat----------
-Ward-----Sanchez---*Smith/bertos
----------Ifill/*Smith/Greeny----

* - Depending on Smith signing and playing..

Could be alright methinks.

Is it in some of the latest news stories that Downey has a slight niggle and will probably see Muscat at RB?

I don't think any of the signings will likely start although they could press for the bench.

I'd take nothing from that rip-off show. Just depressing when that comes on instead of the US version.

Cant wait for Sunday team! We will have sound on but only in certain areas as there is an obvious clash with both the rugby quarter finals. We are looking at part of downstairs for match and commentry with the rugby commentry on the rest of the bar. You will be able to see Phoenix and Rugby from whereever you are for those like me who have an interest in both matches. Im sure everyone can understand the predicament we face on what will we are thinking will be the busiest day in our 4 years.

This is weird! A week ago I was gagging for the start of the season.

Got my season tickets sorted, rounding up people for 16 Oct and 19 Nov. Washed all my gear and I'm all set....

This week I'm barely getting excited about this Sunday. Have I peaked too soon?

Pretty sure it will pick up come 16 Oct, but for now I feel like I'm in a holding pattern (& waiting for the 20th signing to be announced).
