I would like to declare the Zone a success last night.
A combination of things came together and appeared to have the desired result. The programme, the posters, the big screen announcements and a friendly approach to the confused people coming in to look for their seats. I spoke to quite a few people to explain the zone is basically a free for all and people wouldn't be in their seats. Also I think letting them know that they were welcome to stay and join us but if they really weren't comfortable we could get them tickets to another area was a good approach. Most of the peeps I spoke to actually stayed and had a great time. Especially the four people stood just in front of me. They seemed to have an absolute blast.
I'm sure there'll be a few people on here who will disagree with my assessment but oh well.
I also put faces to forum names and i love that the YF brings people together like that.
Watched all the org going into making that work as it was posted here. So congrats to all involved.
We were seated at the opposite end of the same stand. And YF chants could barely be heard. Normally we are close to you guys at Westpac, and boost all the chants. Maybe a project for the club/YF to seat the travelling non YF fans near you guys, to help with the volume. Not sure how many that would be, but two of us went up and dragged out six Aucklanders and others we knew were in town that night. We'd have all got into the chants if we'd been adjacent to the YF Bay. Not sure if practicable at all, so just putting the thought out there.
And p.s Everyone with us thought it was a good football game, good level of skill and pace, and great entertainment.
