A good chunk of cyclists don't wear lycra. I used to cycle to work, now I mainly cycle around the mountain bike tracks and use the road only to get from point a too point b as I don't have a tow bar on my car to mount a bike rack / I'm to cheap to buy a bike rack.

The point isn't the lycra mob though, it's to protect those people who would like to cycle but are afraid to cycle on the roads with our insane and homicidal drivers.

So those children and elderly people that nimbys are complaining about being inconvenienced by having to look before opening their doors are the sort of people who will benefit greatly from having this cycle lane.
