There's no way we're going to get crowds consistently above 10k so if that is the criteria that our crowds are judged on that is simply insanity.

They put the team here, the team has lost money year after year while the FFA has profited from them being in the A-League, and the team was around when they needed them.

In every competition there's going to be big teams and small teams and big cities and small cities.

I'm not smug about crowd per population, but the fact is the population of Wellington is small and can't sustain big crowds.

Regardless, Dome said that our metrics are to be in the same ball park as CCM and the Jets so why we're comparing ourselves to Adelaide I have no idea.

I am smug about our per capita crowds! It's the best way to actually measure the level of market penetration (snigger). It's not our fault our market is 10% of Sydney or Melbourne.

So I agree with what you are saying. Problem is that the FFA don't think like that - which is why they are dismissive of regional bids and are constantly talking up new teams for big city derbies.

Here's a fun fact: Monaco are currently top of Ligue 1 and in the quarterfinals of the champions league but their metrics are barely better than ours - crowds of less than 7000 several times in the league this year. 4300 for one game even.
