I feel like there's a spectrum from helicoptering into games to sitting by silently while a slow motion crisis is underway (another disappointing season results wise, dramatically declining travelling circus attendances, 3 years of confirmed licence remaining). A public expression of that passion and commitment might reassure some fans. And this isn't just about making us fans feel better - disengaged fans stop turning up to games and buying memberships and so on, so it makes business sense to do it too.
