What have Welnix got to sell?... a 1 (likely) + 3 (iffy) + 3 (more iffy) year HAL licence?

Yeah.

Nah.

That's if the people purchasing the club have the intention of keeping the club in NZ. Could just use the club to purchase a spot in the HAL and move it to Australia and get the FFA to give them a longer licence.

If FFA is not interested in giving Consortium "X" (insert Canberra, Hobart, Geelong etc here) a licence on their own merit, the fact that Welnix may sell it to them directly should make no difference to FFA not approving it.

Conversely, if FFA is now talking expansion, there is less reason to buy  a licence off Welnix if one can be got directly from FFA.
