You all know about the canary in the coal mind I guess. The bird is there to warn the miners of gas leaks and such.

"What appears certain already is that this expansion process will already be looking at three entrants for the immediate future given the precarious tenure of Wellington Phoenix. The New Zealand club has two more seasons to run on its licence but, at this stage, appears unlikely to be granted an extension given its poor off-field performances. In the event the Phoenix fold and leave the league, it's likely they will be replaced by one of the bids from the current expansion process."
FFA has no mandate to expand the league or negotiate the future beyond the SGM after CRWG ,OFC and FIFA lead changes to the games management. This is what the media should be chasing and publishing views on the biggest change in Australian Football since Lowy took over and then moved you to Asia. We have 2 years we will be there

Foxtel have shown on at least 2 different occasions a willingness to renegotiate their media deal with the FFA. They did so in year 1 when they realised they bought only 1 match a week for a product out rating the Super Rugby competition. They tried again later until Fudgeley and Co. scuttled the deal.
I think the FFA needs to seriously entertain the possibility of a mass expansion in negotiation with Fox. Approve 5/15 of the bids to bring the league up to 14 teams with 1 team handed the WP license a year after the others.
As it stands, it would be ridiculous to turn down a field of candidates which are not only impressive, but superior to existing clubs.
