Rob was the one that made it relevant. If he had left it alone then Rudan's response would have been nothing more than a throwaway sentence. Instead, he directly attacked a journalist at the major news outlet in the city. Of course that's worth reporting on for that news outlet.

Factor in that it's the only statement Rob's actually made to the media in quite a while and it becomes very relevant. Rob should have left it alone.
