Dan Carter turned out for Nomads AFC in Christchurch a few years back. He'd be a nix fan. #marquee
He put in some good crosses from the left wing. More a Blue or Black shirt fan than a Yellow or White one.

Does Domey's email of last Friday not count, ballane?
Reading between the lines and with everything going on, I doubt we will know anything until the end of the season.
The current demand for 5k membership and 15k at every home game does not add up unless you know its unrealistic. I'm hoping for four years but its playing out to be FOLD.
End of the season will be way too late for everyone concerned. Our players can be approached on 1st January, 2016.
Are the TAB running a book yet?
3/1 - Two fingers to FFA and out at end of season
20/1 - "4 more years"
100/1 - 20 year licence

Also have yet see anybody answer the question of where our players are going to come from if we accept the four years with no promise of life beyond that.

You have to understand that the next TV deal comes in at the end of 2017 - If the Welnix take up the four years then they technically are/will be part of that new TV deal as there licence runs up to 2020.
So can we keep up the numbers for the next 2 seasons? No one can answer that until the end of this season unfortunately.
The home grown Wellington Phoenix supports are there own worst enemy, If we can get 6k to a game then maybe 10k on the 13th, Why cant any of them especially the 6k croud buy the $50 membership? We should have hit 6k membership by now to be honest.

I agree with this view. This calculation (two years to the next licence) is probably behind the concerted campaign by FFA and its trained media lapdogs to make us jump. They have no real grounds to refuse us any kind of licence right now just because it does not suit FFA (and could expose FFA to legal challenge) so they are quietly backing themselves that we would blink first and jump.
If we are serious we will keep up the numbers for two more years and continue doing that every year afterwards. Otherwise we should simply accept that NZ is not a place for a professional football club. Apparently Warriors bring 10x more through their TV deal to NRL than we do to FFA (according to Les Murray), so this argument will always raise its ugly head unless we grow the club a bit more.
It's a waste of time making comment today as it would just get lost in All Blacks hype.
Hopefully there'll be a massive push, including comment from the club, next week.
It seems logical.

and it will only be used for so long? Until next week, when there is a big push for the game on the 13th.
The parade was today in Wellington, so it's completely valid excuse to use.
Speak of the devil, just got this email!

Does that satisfy you, angst-buckets?
Well, could someone in attendance at the Tue 10th meeting post a summary for us the out-of-town members?
Light nibbles and drinks are tempting, but on Tue I will be stuck at work in ChCh where I live.

I'm sure what is said at the meeting will be posted by fever people attending as well as the club releasing an offical statement from WelNix
and oops... They sent it with wrong date, actually on Wednesday night.

Light drinks wouldn't satisfy me. Sounds very ominous if they are only putting on low alcohol beer or one can per person. If they were having an open bar thanking everyone for their support and keeping the nix alive, I would be very optimistic
Does anyone know if this [email protected] mailbox has been used before or is it a new one they have created for this drive. If it is a new mailbox then its a big hint that the Welnix are not going to pull the plug and probably take the 4 years.

Not new, it's been around for a while.
We are becoming like the Jehovah's Witnesses, who keep predicting the Apocalypse and just changing the date.
Plans sometime change. Shocker.
Dont be a knob nufc.
Bugger, I'll be up in Hastings that night! grrrrr. I could have done the Tuesday night one. Will be back for the game though!
What do any of us have to gain by talking shark on here?
Kills work time.
Wow...Domey has really upped the anti for the next home game...he's said that we need 10,000 but 15,000 would be great.
Thats a huge call for a Friday night game in Wellington. Anyone know what our biggest Friday night non finals croud was?.
I kind of wish he had not mentioned numbers because the press will be all over it in a negative way if we get say 8000 to 9000(which is a good Nix croud IMO). I can see the headlines now..... "Nix fans fail to rally to support the club".
I love what Welnix has done for the club but the management just don't get event marketing IMO. Nobody consistently buys something because they want to help out a business.( example....if you heard a local restaurant was about to close because of poor business would you say...right I will eat there every fortnight for the rest of the year to help them out. No, you go to a restaurant because its a good experiance, good food etc, its about the product)
I am sure the Nix will get a croud number spike...which might last for weeks, a month, who knows. However if our #savetheNix plan depends on getting an extra 4000 for every home game for the next four years then we are in deep shiite
you'd normally have a point but I think in this case our croud would be under scrutiny whether Domey or Welnix pointed it out or not. Therefore it's better to beat the drum, try rally some support and hope people answer the call.
We need 10,000 or a lot of the #savethenix hype will be lost.
For what it's worth, and it isn't much. Saw Gareth Morgan at Twickenham last Saturday, had a quick word with him. My Old Man had a longer chat about it all, said it was an uphill struggle and it was all looking a bit grim.
I guess that's not really a surprise and quite an obvious thing for him to say.
Other thing, wonder how long he had been in London for and what that says about his direct involvement in this whole thing anymore? Certainly taken a back seat from his disastrous foray into it all a few years ago.

There was a podcast on Foxtv with the usual Oz football journo's last week. Jason Pine had a short guest spot and he said that Gareth and Rob had had a fall out over the direction of the club over a year ago. This was complete news to me. I guess it kind of explains Gareth,s non public involvement with the club recently. Gareth can go off the deep end sometimes but he would be handy now if we needed someone to razz up the media public to get inbehind the club. I'm sure we will get more out of the owners soon but I hope we don't just sleepwalk to our death.
The fact that someone from Welnix says its looking grim(unofficially) confirms my fears for the club. I don't think the FFA would have publically made their Nix statement if they were not 100% committed to it. Unless there is a major game changer...like Sky offering millions+ a year or NZF writing a fat "Nix participation cheque" each year then I think we are toast. IMO crouds, viewership etc are just a smokescreen.....It will only be $$$ and lots of it that will sway the FFA.
Gareth's last involvement in being a front man for the Phoenix was not a great success. Diplomacy and being nice to people is not his forte.
We can only speculate but as Rob has a brain I dare say he told him to tone it down or butt out. Gareth would have chosen the later option.
I'm prepared to give Rob one more week to come to the party and say something bloody constructive. If he hides in his boardroom, then in my view the tiger Morgan should be let of the leash.
Nothing worse then sleep walking your way to a certain death. May as well fight.
I am so happy that Gareth Morgan the Cat Killer is no longer associated with my football team.
Still not so happy with the fact that angst-buckets are associated with my team. If they were trying to kick the Tards, sorry, our good buddies at the Victory out, you can't imagine half of them lying down and moping on the forums that was all hopeless and useless.

I think it's over. The FFA don't wont us. It just the question if the Welnix buy into the four more years. Even if we have 10% more members and 11% croud they come with random metrics and say that is not enough, that why the FFA never said what they actual want form us in the first place.
And I think NZF, NZ should do more, much more, if the Nix go down, half of the All Whites Squad are not playing or training professional football, it's indeed looking very grim.
It's not over. I spoke to a senior person from another club yesterday and he's definitely told the FFA to get it right.

Nail -> Head.
As was "reported" by one of the FFA talking heads a couple of weeks back - the decision has already been made, it's just a matter of making the cut as painless as possible (for the FFA, not for us) whilst meeting their legal and commercial obligations (such as a ten team competition).
Not saying we should give up, but we need a business version of Kenny Cunningham to score in extra time.

Sorry News, the angstbuckets have spoken. Now let us all sit upon the carpet and tell sad stories.
