He is one of the few AWs who can pass the ball and be in the right position in the midfield for a pass.
People say he is getting old, but at 34 he would be still in top long term distance fitness if he is kept busy building his core foundation over the years. The off the mark acceleration maybe slower should be countered by his knowledge of the game and the proper game position.
He only loses the ball when his teammates are not there to receive the ball and he is forced to do a 50/50 pass forward because he is cut off from his defenders and that he can't hold off the two midfielders for long.
When we get organised especially with McGlinchey on the field, his options are going to open up from defensive midfield to the centre midfield. Not sure if Brown links that well with Elliot. Whereas McGlinchey is in the right place most of the time.
I don't know if we see the Elliot/McGlinchey midfield until the actual World Cup Tournament. But it is worth a try.
