Another reason why a reserve league should be considered under the first team and alongside the youth team. Surely a reserve tier would maintain such players that need more development in a tougher league as well as there would be fringe players looking for gametime. The gap between National Youth league and A-League is huge. Many good players will just be lost in the State leagues never getting a chance again nor exposed to good development.
Maintaining a second tier development pool of players at the club helps get those players access to quality coaching, personal development and the big thing to get them better prepared for chances at other clubs by arranged trials or exchange or loan.
In the UK etc, reserve teams are used alongside youth teams and doors do open for a number of them.
