However If we have a reserve team in the NZFC, then he has a chance to play for us and still get a shot at A-league. Screw having to drop back into State League when there is an A-league reserve team in Wellington Phoenix.
Panny Nikas, just wait next to your phone, after the Nix reserve team news release.

Very good point, one which I hadn't thought of tbh.
Is NZFC a higher standard than NYL?
Yes.
It is our national league. Considering NZFC has Men not U21 Boys. Experienced players some of which were ex AWs, ex-youth internationals, some players had recently played in the US college system. Two NZFC teams having CWC experience with Auckland City doing 5th on the CWC recently. Experience and maturity will makes the NZFC better than NYL.
NZFC should be just as good if not better than State League, it would be harder to determine which way it goes now. TBH.
In the time when we were doing NZ National Club League, I would definitely say that some State League (e.g Victoria Premier League/ NSW Premier league) is better than NZ National Club League because it has a more consistent skill level at the time, where as other State Leagues like Tasmania or Western Australia would questionable and would be closer to Central League level.
Of course things have changed quite a bit now, so I am assuming that NZFC has improved (which it has) and that most State Leagues Clubs has lost some of their star players into the A-league and gone backwards in the player pools for a while.
