Don't get me wrong, I wish the AWs had more to pick from but we have to pick from what we have got..

Elliot is the only player in the AWs (Nelsen and Fallon aside) who demands the ball when we have it (the classic is throw ins - they take an age because everyone runs away from the thrower and not just to make space!!). The others turn their backs and run forward (watch Brown and Bertos for this). Thus when Elliot gets the ball (by default) his closest options (midfielders as in Brown and Leo) are facing away from him and generally require and $m ball to find their feet. Being the pro he is he will try and play a guaranteed ball (this is generally to the full backs who then play the line (b/c their is no midfield option to feet because they have thei rbacks turned and are about 50m away).

I don't know how Brown does it but he ghosts in behind the forwards- maybe he is there to pick up the scraps from a long ball but I personally don't rate him.

Elliot any day, pace or not...

those are very good points and you're dead right about the throw-ins, I've noticed that from day 1.

but, in-saying that we need someone like Macglinchey over Elliot. I don't like Elliott's style of play and i believe he just slows things down when we should be on the counter attack.

for example, little mac passes the ball, moves into space and shouts for it back. Then he repeats.

Elliott doesn't do that, he normally just stand around and relies others to work off him.

and imo, that's not the type of player we need right now.
