I'm not too sure Costa's miss was an open goal. There was a defender on the line. He didn't actually have a clear shot. If it was on target I'm picking it would have been cleared off the line. I'm not sure why Andy with a 'Y' Harper was going on and on about it.
It was a tough angle but it was a pretty much open goal.
The goals have really dried up haven't they?  Who would have thought when Rees scored against Newcastle that it would be the last Phoenix goal of the season?

This has been the absolute most disappointing thing for me.

Best bit of the night for me was hearing the two Aussie commentators basically telling anyone who compares us with the Knights to shut the f**k up.

I second that

im with the tim brown comment? he seems up to eff all if you ask me. costas miss was an open goal, but he was our best for the rest of the night. showed pace which was key, still some rough edges which was to be expected but overall promising. was elrichs pass to draper the best pass hes made all season?

A pub for us to drown our sorrows in. Been a great season. Roll on the next.

I thought Brown was the source of a lot of CCM runs into our box - 5 yards off the pace each time he actually did read a run and track back. The rest of the time I'd see him sauntering casually back while his man is creating another goalscoring chance. He gets angry easily and gives away free kicks in dangerous places, but what else does he do? I don't see much from him.

I've wanted to ask for some time - what does Tim Brown actually do?

Tim who?

what a waste of space,
Big ups to Costa , showed glimpses of real talent with lots of pace,,

well done to ferrante also, gets through tons of work, great commitment

Absolutely Shocking!  How can some of you say it has been an awesome season?  We played like school boys for the majority of the season and a NZ team bottom again!!!  A whole new team sheet please.........

Ferrante's passing was off tonight. But he's shown his class through the season.

Great to see Costa have the confidence to run at players. He's quick and gets the ball under control early. Great qualities. Good shot too that went just over the bar.

Christie was rubbish tonight. I didn't expect much from him, because I think his abilities sit one tier below A-league. I think Lia did better at right back than Christie also.

I'll be back. Luckily, I've just got to survive February before K-League begins, and I'll be cheering Gyeongnam FC again. (At least I think so, 5 weeks out, and no fixtures list available)

Smeltz!

Reports say he is off to QLD and it looked to me tonight to be a problem with management - first time all season to be subbed and he wasn't happy!

bugger that.

we need a pacey dedicated defensive midfielder who has a high work rate. and two proper bloody full backs!

and to start Costa in every game.

Definitely need Smeltz to stay. Don't go Shane! Anyone who can score goals is desperately needed. Partner up front for Smeltz who also scores. We set up enough chances, we just don't bloody well convert them.

Think you might find the list might be long. They know have a decent amount of time to get some signings not like this season when it was more a case of who hadnt signed for other teams than getting those players they wanted.

No Lia was too light weight, apart from a couple of good tackles, beaten often in the air.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I think subbing Smeltz was just a case of give Draper a run. Smeltz had a quiet game, so why not. He might have just been disappointed with his own game.

Still guttred bout the costa and draper missed shots

THINK WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN

I agree about Lia, but still better than Christie though. Didn't feel like he would have an indecisive moment that would cough up a goal.

Pao what planet are you on mate, Lia was totally out of position tonight, he should have been where christie was, infact another crap call from the coach who has no idea and brings guys on with 9 minutes to go, herbert what are you doing mate??How is anyone suppossed to make an impact in 9 minutes?? He leaves it way to late Costa should have been playing all year, SMELTZ work on your first touch over the summer its like an elephants.

What you need is a Soupy Campbell in the midfield. Or a Chad Coombes.

Three for me, and two for them.

I wouldn't bag you on that one, because I was voicing a concern about Brown's contribution that I've held all season. He chops players down and pulls their shirts, earns yellow cards and complains about being penalised, and that seems to be all he does. I don't see much defensively or attacking from him. Not a midfield workhorse either. Always just seems to be 5 yards off the pace.

Lia did better than Christie was likely to have played at right back in my opinion. What do you mean when you say Lia should have been where Christie was? Lia was playing right back and Christie right midfield.

Pao what I meant was, i would have had Christie at right back and Lia Right Mid, but if it was my way, it would have been christie out all together and elrich at right midfield

Ricky needed to sub Elrich and Felipe on with 20 min to go and tell them to run at the defence. ffs, any defender knows, when conditions are slippery like that, being run at is the worst, you can't turn or change direction, thats why Costa did so well. Both Elrich and Felipe couldve done that

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Herbert made the point that he was trying to shore up the backc four. With that in mind, I suspect he thought Lia was a better proposition in that position than Christie. Fair call too I'd say, even though I agree Lia wasn't as good in that position tonight as he is in his usual position.

Pity Daniel was out, although not sure how he would have coped with those conditions.

Either would offer far more bite than Tim Brown.

Three for me, and two for them.
