I'd say, on average, that across the A-League teams usually get this right 3 out of 5 times. Which is to say imports are lottery and have a good chance of not being as succesful as expected.

And, if that is the case, the scouting processes and decision making process should be deemed a failure in that scenario. There's too much riding on import slots to allow them to be a lottery. Obviously there's always a level of uncertainty, but for me a 40% failure rate is unacceptable, and should be treated as such by the clubs.
