Just saw the goals again.
1: Boyd will be stoked to have the monkey off his back
2: They got caught in possession cause as Covic said they coasted and Stein delivered on his favoured leg
3: How good was that pass from Ridenton to Brockie and the finish from Stein - its like he was taking the piss.
We won the game but for so long, it was looking dour or them to take it. I think a lot of this credit for this performance must go to the coach Ernie. For the entire season he has said 'stand by me' and its looking to come together even when most of us fans have said 'playoffs are done' (even on the podcast). He has stuck by some players that we as a fan group would have jettisoned (and Brockie was still MIA tonight even thought we won) and we are playing good football and are tough to breakdown. The goals are starting to come as well even on the road against one of the best teams in the league. How many teams will take 5 points against WSW and be unbeaten by them?
How good does this feel knowing that CCM are coming to face us at home and they are not exactly in the form of old nor have McGlinchey - perfect timing!!
The downside is that for the 3rd game on the trot, we lose a player and suspect it could be for a while (as much as none of us would like that). Thats the 3rd pop of a shoulder in 4 months and really, you need to take some serious time out to sort that. Ask Benji Marshall about his shoulders and what happens when you play through. All he has to do is fall over and he is busted. The Phoenix need to treat this time round with a lot more seriousness and judging by the ease in which it popped, how did he play this week?
I thought Sigmund was immense tonight. Our back line looks so much more organised from last year - where thats a confidence or a coach thing who knows but don't mess with it. The Hicks for Ridenton sub was strange but that pass for the 3rd goal was worth it even if Ridenton did not much else.
Its great to feel bulletproof.
