May I suggest ignoring those. The laws have been completely re-written and there are some changes to those. They are subtle but they make a difference

do you want to give an example of a difference? Maybe one relevant to the Krishna case?

Of course others don't agree with me though.

And yeah technically contact isn't necessary - it's whether it was dangerous or not. Just because you miss doesn't mean it wasn't dangerous.

I suspect a lot of disagreement is in context.  i.e. its not a red when it happens the other 20 times in a game, contact or not, therefore it shouldn't be for Krishna.  As opposed to the letter of the law, if that makes sense.

Cheers Chris

Any chance of you letting us know if you thought it should have been red?

My opinion? The tackle by Roy is a classic 'leaving the foot in' challenge. On the balance of probabilities, yellow card is the better call and one that everyone would accept BUT it's a naughty foul and I can get to red as there are some boxes I can tick to get me most of the way to red. My main issue is that his contact is coming down and it's lower shin above the ankle. Had he being going through or up, I'd say 100% red. I've talked about this with a few other guys and the general feeling is with new FIFA directives that change every 18 months approx. (contact coming down and if you are split between red and yellow or think orange, you come down to yellow) that FIFA would probably view this as a yellow card in the current environment. It's not an outright wrong decision because as I said, there are some boxes in the red column I can absolutely tick but the better call is yellow.

Can't you read? He is saying the same than the forum, could go either red or yellow! An I like to add: If this 'foul' would be in the first 2 minutes, it would have be a stern talk by the referee with a warning finger.

Hatter and I know each other so you are missing the banter. If this occurred in the 2nd min, there would not be a chat. This would be viewed as a 'statement' challenge and a card would absolutely be needed otherwise the referee would lose control and retaliation would happen - I would expect mayhem afterwards if it was just a chat. Again the colour as per previous opinion.
