Sounds like it was a case of round 1 vs Perth. Thankfully I was working last night, and still have not seen anything apart from what was posted here.
belated post, and just teh way I saw it, but I thought Brisbane did a great job with compressing play and coordinated pressing on us. Our get out of jail short passing option was often covered
So, like Perth in R1 they just put a lot of pressure on, were quite happy to make contact to disrupt flow and had the pace to be on us to make that work
you tend to have bad nights when the other guy puts you under pressure. So, sure, we had players off their best, and sure it was a bit rough after the break, and the pitch maybe didn't help, plus the usual weather/fatique, but I think you have to give Brisbane a lot of credit for making it very difficult. Just off the top of my head I think they had a player sitting a bit higher to disrupt back passes and switches, so it looks a well devised plan to me.
I thought it was a night where Rolly needed more help from Burns and McG, and they both needed to be better options for Lia and Riera. but I don't remember them dropping to help much. With Sydney, Brisbane and MelbC improving we can expect more games where our midfield is under real pressure. I think Ernie will fix that.
