Good time to play Newcastle now they've axed nine players from the squad they started the season with and most of the support staff:

Not so sure..it was a good time to play WSW who hadnt won all season but looked what happened.  Also players always step up to impress new boss.

We can all agree that WSW is a solid team which was largely distracted by the Asian Champions League finals and probably ran out of puff by the time the new HAL season started. This happens to the best of clubs.  You kinda back yourself to start winning again if you are at that level.  Even when we won 1:0 at home I felt they were on their way up again (we only scored from the penalty spot that time IIRC).

In contrast, I do not think the same can be said about Newcastle at the moment. Their current player turnover is significant (senior players), and the concurrent loss of club personnel will not help in terms of smooth running.  If they make to the end of the season then it may be a new start in October 2015, and I wish them well. However  I cannot see where their new form on the park would come from this weekend or beyond.

If I was Ernie I would give our benched guys (Boxall, Boyd), and maybe also Appiah if he is ready, a decent time on the park in this game.

In theory yes, but we know WSW was largely distracted by the Asian Champions League finals and probably ran out of puff by the time the new HAL season started. Happens to best of clubs.  You kinda back yourself to start winning again if you are at that level. They did let go of some players though so the new ones had to have time to gel.

In contrast, I do not think the same can be said about Newcastle at the moment. Their player turnover was massive due to the well known fallout a few weeks ago, and the loss of club personnel will not help. I cannot see where their new form would come from this weekend.
