Ha! Interview with Mulvey drowned out by Nix dressing room singing up a storm.

I think Burgess definitely made a claim for a start again next week too, but don't forget that Singh scored two and got two assists. I know it was a blowout but that's still phenomenal. Thought Mandi was a bit poor though

Will need to play a lot better than this against WSW who are playing exceptionally well just now ,hopefully with Rufer and Taylor back things will improve in the defence and midfield (although Mandi and Burgess did well  tonight)
WSW are not CCM and will provide a much sterner test with the likes of Rolly in great form, both teams will be coming off impressive victories us tonight and WSW spanking Brisbane 4-1 away so it should be a cracking game of football!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Could well be Burgess in for Singh, but although Burgess works real hard, he is not so good at that crucial link up play.

You reckon. Now I accept that Singh has been great, at least on occasions, but Burgess has had hardly any chance to show himself, and from what Ive seen, I thought hes acquitted himself very well.

Hmm

Really should have had 12 goals, all the people @fourfourtwo forum feel sorry for CCM.

Stopped trying once we were comfortable and it was his lax marking that let us down a few times in the second half, especially Clisby's goal

Singh is out for next week so Burgess will slot in.

I thought WSW played better v Brisbane than we played v CCM, it'll be a good test next week. Lets hope Taylor is back.

btw Krishna is doing his no smile/celebration thing again. Was it because CCM were so sharke and he was embarassed or is it another contract negotiation sulk?

Also, Mandi has been poor for quite a long time but he's still our best midfielder.

Has to be the latter. Give the lad what he wants, he's 31 and in the form of his life, probably going to be his last 'big contract' and based on how he's gone this season I'd be tempted to make him a marquee and give him the money he's after, he'd qualify for the loyalty payment too, hell, give him the whole $200,000... He won't be on peanuts at the moment, but after this season he'll have no shortage of suitors lining up for his signature.

If he does sign an extension for us can someone insert a clause stating he is no longer to take penalties? ?

Williams didn't celebrate his goal either, might have been a team focus thing. Krishna seemed pretty happy celebrating with Libby, Singh and Fenton when the result was beyond doubt.

Can some one please tell me what is it that the Nix offer the A League??

Perhaps the players didn't celebrate cause they felt sorry for the CCM players?

It is the type of result we have threatened to to come up with in several games earlier this season but didn't go all the way. CCM  unfortunately happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I like their fans and I know the pain they are going through. Great result for us but I hope CCM bounce back and win a few more this season.

Lastly, great to see Frankie Mac visiting the site again. Missed you and your betting predicitions Frankie.

Goal highlights anyone??

Also, what are the odds on TV1 reluctantly showing 1 or 2 goals, TV3 the same with both channels preceeding this with 10 minutes of Rugby highlights

Thanks for those two postings. I have to say I liked Rudan's acknowledgement of the backroom staff. I have seen Becky on a lot of occassions running around on game day trying to get thingsd running properly etc and the volunteers at Westpac leading the kids out etc. It's nice to see their efforts acknowledged. It's not just about the coaches, players, owners or CEO, it's the whole package. This had to be one of the best interviews. because I feel too, that Rudan has not publicity acknowledged himself for what he has been party to achieving.

If we were paying Ko$ta 900,000 to come back and play a few seasons ago, then we surely have to match that for Roy. The man is so vital to our team that we cannot afford to lose him

And this is why I sometimes feel that the club is doomed - not because of the licence or the metrics, but because it's a broken brand even for the Phoenix faithful. Our ability to get excited about anything is broken.

We win by 6 goals away? "Boo hoo hoo, Krishna didn't celebrate / Rudan's going and taking all our good players with him".

I see your angle on this D and you are correct for the most of it too. My take on that is it is because of past history when it was one negative after another for far too long. Hopefully this will change . Rudan has done or helped do it as far as the club are concerned. Now, fans need to step up to the plate and modify their opinions and attitudes too.

No one here is not over the moon at the win afaik; it was just a strange game. I celebrated every goal. It's just more interesting to talk about other things than just add to the 'yeah we won!'.

There is a bit of hesitancy I suppose because CCM were the most godawful team I have ever seen in the league.

All good points. I'm just frustrated that the narrative - in the media and on Twitter etc - is still "Imminent death of the Nix predicted, Rudan to take all our good players to West Melbourne Bogans".

Geez the aftermatch reading of social media and the news you'd think its a homicide. I was more disspointed that we didn't get to 10. I'm thinking teams from the Handy would do better than CCM in the A-league.

We just did what we had to do - and we were wonderfully ruthless. Wasn't a normal game and feel sorry for CCM fans - they deserve so much better from their club. We've been there before so can totally relate to it. Also aware if Rudan goes, that next season could be a mess here too.

Burgess was very good - looks midfield dogfight finals material to me - if we make the playoffs.

Everything is fixable. Perform well and get a license extension will do it.

Yep agree CCM were rubbish but the lads did what they had to do.You do wonder though just what this team may be capable of if they can stay switched on for most of a game. There were times again last nite where they seemed to go in to cruise mode again and drifted out of the game.

Just read Mulvey got the sack for this drumming, was it really his fault or where the Nix just that good?

Are you joking? This is long overdue, I‘m not for sacking coaches halfway season, but remember how shark we have been last year, they topped that two years in a row. Probably not all his fault, but he definitely did made them any better. I don’t think any player wants to be there, they need some fresh air.

CCM barely turned up. We were clinical taking advantage of that but different game next week.

Seems Mulvey lost his team before he lost his job. Shades of Darije.

Burgess and Singh both very good. Singh with 2 goals and two assists hopefully puts him back into form. Burgess showing he has the engine to play a full 90 next week in singhs abcense

CCM should thank us, now they got the chance for some upset in their last games and for the players to get some fun back.

Totally agree on the hesitancy. This game is a good lead in to the finish though.

Worst five sides for me:

5. Shambolic Sydney (2010–11 Sydney FC): went from league and toilet seat winners to 9th place; while not last a major collapse from the so-called leading club.

4. Failed Furries (2010–11 North Queensland Fury)

3. Clive Palmer's Kids FC (2011–12 Gold Coast United FC)

2. Sad-ass Salties (2018–19 Central Coast Mariners)

1. Knight's 'mare (2005–06 New Zealand Knights)

Yeah, Mulvey was talking before the game how CCM need to emulate the Phoenix, the first step will be whoever takes control for the last few games to emulate Greenacre last season.

Also for years we were saying we need to emulate ccm, kind of ironic that it's the other way around now.

The Knights final record was played 21 won 5 drew 4 lost 12  goals for 13 against 39 points 19.

The Mariners have 7 points after 21 games.

Yet Rudan wasn't ruthless himself.  He let the nix crusie for at least 25 mins in the second half when he should have been using his bench to up the pace and show the incumbents that they have to work for 90 minutes, not 60.

Rudan has been brilliant and could be better.  Hopefully the board can see past the bottom of their glasses and do what it takes to keep him.

Maybe Burgess was just knackered.  He hasn't had much game time.  Like others, he should have been subbed at around 60 mins to let the young and keen have a shot.  In retrospect, Rudie will learn from that I'm sure.

What was really baffling about CCM was the young imports they have, that 18yo CB loaned from Sheffield got owned by Krishna all night. The other was nothing special.

I'm not saying a young Aussie defender would be better but why use an import slot on someone thats not at minimum A-league quailityor even NPL/Handy quality? They would have been better off promoting young aussie talent to learn much like what we done last year.
