Wow - just wow
I'll be honest, I fell asleep during this game in parts because it was that fucking shit house. If it was not for Sigmund redefining the terms 'goal assist' and Stein putting a gimme right at Reddy we would have gone into the HT 1 up and objectively, both sides couldn't play with themselves let alone football because it was that shit to watch. CCM under Arnold were beasts. Since he has gone, they just look like a Phoenix side. They were as bad as us if not more so. How could Stein hit the keeper??? There was a noticable style change from us, a bit more aerial, a bit more long ball and it looked awful.
I missed the pen (asleep but reading here it was shit house) but I saw Brockie again miss an empty net and Liam Reddy look like the best keeper in the HAL without needing to do anything more than open his arms and catch every ball kicked straight at him.
Ernie needs to get ruthless unfortunately cause the guys that he should be able to bank on and stick his neck out for, simply are not doing the job. Brockie goes to the bench, Ifill starts. Stein goes to the bench, Boyd starts. Kenny goes to the bench, Bertos starts. Sigmund goes to the bench, Boxall starts. That looks knee jerk and to a degree it is, but we are 10 games in and these guys are not performing to the level they should. Kenny is starting to look better but only in comparison to where he was round 1 and not where he should be as an import and international footballer. How he gets picked for Costa Rica on this form is Jeremy Christie-esque. To keep picking these players is actually Ricki-esque. Yes we are creating chances, yes we should be slotting them, yes we should have given at least 1 team a pants down GCU ass raping and have more results in our favour but we have not. We cannot repeat that for Sydney
Ernie - make the changes. It has to happen. The style is starting to slip and the chances are not getting slotted by players that should be better. Don't be blindly loyal like Ricki was. Poor form needs to be punished
I have to say its the first time this season that I thought Riera was MOM for the parts I was awake for. Still too many dumb fouls for my liking and why does he throw his hands up when they are blatantly obvious ones?
Just frustrating.
Edit: Carlos Hernandez. Someone needs to resolve this one way or the other. Ricki signed him - did he agree to something not in the contract? Playing devils advocate, if he spits the dummy and leaves, is that a bad thing? Would Kenny join him? Is that a bad thing? It actually sounds like it might be welcomed amongst the fans to get in two imports who can boss the midfield and score goals. Would Ernie welcome it seeing what Kenny and Hernandez has delivered thus far? Is this simply just a miss understanding and a media beat up? How do stories like this come out unless someone somewhere says something. So much interest in this for me cause that *could* be a season changer (either way)
