As it apparently gave their supporters "the shits" on Saturday, I wonder if the CCM fans are gonna try and outdo our epic marathon Yellow Army chant on Thursday night...

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

It will be interesting to see how many people turn up for this Thursday night game seeing that it is in Sydney and CCM got hammered last game.

The worrying thing is that they will be fired up to get the points they missed out on against Adelaide.

Ernie to go if we lose this game? 10 games without a win and he should not stay in this position.

Norwich City supporter since 1992, New Zealand supporter since 2010 but without Rory Fallon's winning goal against Bahrain, I won't know about New Zealand Football.

Take it to the Coaching Angst thread, that's what I made it for. :)

Seriously - I am not convinced that Ernie is what we need, but let him finish out the season at least.

*facepalm* No

So your suggest is fire the coach and then what? Do you not see the long term plan? Do you understand what is happening at the Phoenix?

And what do you think we should do then? Quick to want Ernie gone but never a suggestion as to the follow up once he is gone.

imagine if the PL instead of petrodollars was funded by peasants...then you'd not be too far away from what's happening with the Phoenix...

Doloras has a better chance of growing a d*** this week than Ernie being sacked/step down.

Actually I think this is wrong.

Our understanding of stem cells and tissue differentiation is not yet at a stage where a human could grow a new organ in such a short space of time.

Whereas it is unlikely yet possible that Ernie could decide to step down for a variety of non-football reasons or perhaps we get drubbed 7-0 and the players revolt.

Therefore nufc's post was incorrect.

I'll say, never underestimate a good goalkeeper. I've seen some miracles pulled off by goalies that plainly defied the laws of physics and physiology as we know them. So in fact the jury may still be out on this one.

I've never heard Vukovic being called a "miracle" before.

... wow. Am I the only one who remembers asking where would we get a Ricki replacement from, this time last year, and be pilloried?

Same thing we did last year. Conduct a worldwide search!

haha well done.

I tend to think Brockie has solved the problem of him and Stein playing together with his performance on Saturday.

I think we will end up with something along the lines of

                     Moss
Fenton  Siggy    Dura     Manny
             Riera     Lia
Kenny          Carlos       Ifill
                 Stien

I think its a winnable game, CCM have looked well below their best this season and its being played an an unfamiliar ground. Just a shame they played so badly on the weekend, they will have got a bollocking from the Gaffer.

The mariners tend to have a mid-season dip, as they've done for the last 2 consecutive seasons, before finding their feet again in the run home to the playoffs. Hopefully we can take advantage of that, and kick start our season.

Yes but we are in the midst of a 'season dip'. Maybe this will be a contest of who dips the highest.

How dare you bring logic into this!

I think their last result was an aberration - they were playing against a highly motivated Adelaide and unfortunately they (CCM) did not think there was any reason to suspect anything else than an easy win.

Personally I think we have peaked - this is how well we can play with this personnel this season. Some tweaking may help, and I am sure Ernie is more qualified than me to decide what tweaking is needed. Others suggested tweaking the inexperienced two fullbacks, or the ageing two centre backs. If it was up to me, I would say it is the front line that needs the final tweak. No real miracles will come out of this team until our inability to score is resolved. Possibly the best way is to rest Brockie until his present mindset passes; it is a shame we have no reserves playing as it would make a huge difference to fitness and to the ability to assess players' progress.
