Fair enough Valeo - probably a good time to mention I am from Melbourne myself, so may be slightly biased. I don't think he'll be sorely missed at Melbourne anyway - they have a strong enough midfield.

Just looking at the A-League Website, they could've summarised Perth's movements thusly:

Re-signed: Rubbish players

In: No Players

Out: The few good players they had

Kind of feel sorry for them :(

Me, too.  --- NOT!

Caceres is very overated mate imo (especially by Victory fans). I've been to every Melbourne game and he is ridiculously hot and cold - usually cold, though.

And Elrich..well..the less said about that waste of space the better. Bad attitude, bad crosses, bad fitness.

Caceres nickname is George Negus, do you know why??

Argentinian born Aussie footballer - TV personality. I don't see an obvious link. This should be a good story.

He only plays for 60 minutes. George Negus was a presenter on the show.

Which is why we gave him to Melbourne, they call him 'Figo' for some reason

Pah, don't be so quick to castigate our coach - who wants to be the revolving door that Sydney is?

Just stating the facts..

I wouldn't want him to leave, I can just see it happening if we finish 6th-8th.

unless you are "Terry in disguise" all you are stating is an opinion

Frankly, if we finish below 6th with our squad Ricki deserves to go. Much depends on the circumstances, if we keep playing good football, have bad luck with injuries etc a 6th place finish would probably be acceptable, but I really would like to see us challenging for the playoffs. I do think Ricki has what it takes to do this, and the signings he, Tony and Terry have made thus far are very, very reassuring.

Unless you're the Nix. Right? Don't you have to be an Aussie team to go to the Pans?

I have every confidence that Ricki will deliver the goods next year - i.e. the team will play attractive football and get results. The fact we can recruit and retain the calibre of players of Durante, McCain, Lia etc says a lot to me about the respect players have for Ricki as a coach and a person.

What will be interesting is how much longer he will be allowed to coach the Phoenix and the All Whites. I think Terry and Tony made it very clear when they let Stu Jacobs go that they expect Ricki to be hands on. Personally I don't think, even with the Fifa windows, you can do both jobs. The Phoenix is a professional football team into which the owner has invested a lot of money and fan expectations are rising - the Nix has to be Ricki's full time focus.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Expect a lot you do.

I'd be happy with anywhere above 7th.

If Ricki got the sack who would replace him then?

Agree with you Ben, anywhere above 7th is good. Personally i think 6th but to say anything below 4th is complete and utter disappointment quite frankly is a complete and utter rubbish statement.

Three for me, and two for them.

Maybe as ex-Knight fans we come to expect less ;)

Heh, probably.

But seriously i just think that although the squad looks reasonable, it's pretty ridiculous to demand a top 4 finish. I mean, you do realise all the other sides will look to strengthen too, don't you?

There is still a while to go but the only clubs that have really improved much = us and Sydney.

We will win every game, coming first in the Regular Season, before winning the comp.

Then We'll make it to the World Club Finals and beat AC Milan in the final. 6-0.

It's a salary-capped league, everyone has the same resources.

Aiming/expecting anything less than the top half (a play-off place) is daft. You were competitive for the most part last year, and you've already had a *very* good start to your recruiting (seemingly continuing with Porter and co on the way).

If I was a Nix fan I'd be unhappy without a playoff place, unless something odd happens.

We should be above Perth  and i wonder how bad Newcastle will be as there squad is be disassembled. Anything more would be good. 4th would be fantastic

To be honest, as long as they're playing decent football, scoring goals and tightening up the defence, I'd be happy with anything better than last seasons result...
