This was basically what I was trying to get across on the other forum. This is quoted from Fred Woodcocks opinon

"Of the dozens of players who have represented the Phoenix during the past six seasons, only defender Ben Sigmund immediately springs to mind as a Kiwi who has gone from relative obscurity to an accomplished professional under Herbert.

Others were either made before they reached Wellington or have gone on to other clubs and made a name for themselves"

Will a new coach start to look at the ASB premiership ma bit more? I would say unlikely if its a foreign coach.

Mulligan is a stand out in the ASB Premiership now but he was honking for us. Totori was golden boot winner a couple times? He is really ripping the A-League apart....

It is a massive step up, it is not a surprise very few have made it . Even top players from Aussie state leagues have struggled to step up, and they are considered a higher level.

Mulligan could have been worth another run in my opinion. Was tried at right back, was poor and that was it. I know people who've always rated him and he has looked good for the AWs as a passer of the ball and has a shot from distance.

Totori hasn't been able to slot into a smooth attacking machine, but into something that isn't working. I think he could show potential if things were working better.
