Greenie and Gouldy to take over. Don't worry lads, they've had experience coaching the reserves.......oh shit, we're doomed.

Ha, yeah not over the moon at the replacements but assume this has come as quite a surprise and is a stop-gap measure only. Lets commence the WORLDWIDE search immediately!

This worries me.

As much of an advocate I may be for Herbert stepping down, I still think there is a more amicable way of doing it, and it serves no purpose to sack him now.

If they did it at the end of the season they could find a decent replacement.

Resigned is the story, not sacked.

Haha. He'd be terrified.

SACK GREENACRE!!!

Seriously - I have no faith in Welnix's ability to spot coaching talent. None at all. They'll go for the safe option - Greenie, or some loser from the ASB Prem.

And after we lose every game for the rest of the season, I'll get my BRING BACK RICKI T-shirt printed.

well we were all expecting something to happen sooner or later .And now it has .I have to admit tho i feel kinda funny about it i mean no rikki will kinda be weird and strange to get used to. He has been part of the nix since i started supporting them .

Thank's for being the big man and stepping down .It probably wasn't easy ,even though everyone here could see it ha
anyway good luck rikki to you new role in the club as far as i know this is what your doing

I LOVE LAMP

 sad panda.

There have been candidates doing auditions with Papas on 442 and Ross Aloisi in the papers, but still not happy with this.

It's been a tricky year and he may have lost the support/respect of the players, but Ricki, Tim Brown, Smeltzy, Siggie, Lochhead are all among the good solid hardworking names that have been part of our football renaissance and I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about the club with an Aussie journeyman, or Emblen or someone like that.

The owners have been over optimistic in their prescriptions and then over hasty in the fixes and I wonder how this will help in the long run. Certainly we are still missing Smeltzy and Brown.

He possibly took the "Ricki, Ricki, make a sub" chant quite seriously and decided to sub himself out.

I'm going to have a bit more faith. This has come about due to the alarming drop in both crowds, and obviously, form. The owners had to act (I know it says resigned but seems there might be more to it) and would be ridiculously stupid to think appointing Greenacre would cause an upturn in crowds or form.

Think we'll find they have some-one to talk too. Had to happen now to have any chance of the new coach getting into the new signings market.

How about Luciano Trani. The players rated him highly & he was considered the "the man" behind Ricky when he was here.

Even if things have been going badly I don't feel in any way shape or form "happy" today. Ricki has bought some great times to the club and always acknowledged the fans. Perhaps he has lost his way and perhaps we needed this sort of change, but for me it's not a thing to celebrate.

Greenie will take the job on an interim basis and that is a good move. Welnix have seemingly fucked a few things up in their short involvement but surely they are close enough to know that the problem in the changing room was between Ricki and the players, and that Greenie and Gouldy being in charge will lift the morale of the players.  This season is a right off already so if we lose the remaining 5 games nothing has changed

I'm personally guttered. I know it is time for ricki to leave, but would have rather he left it til the end of the season. Tell the players and try pick up some points to gain some credibility.

Ricki has been one of, if not the most important person for this club and I hope he gets the respectful farewell he deserves

yeah I'm quietly confident.

Sad for Ricki though - he did do some great stuff.

There won't be any decent players left to sign if they leave it to post season. Club's are doing the deals now.

Not happy about this at all. The season is gone. Ricki deserved brtter, considering how much he has given to the club and its supporters - I have lost all faith in welnix.

Hernandez wont happy - ssounds like Ricki is the main reason he signed.

Ricki is so ingrained in this football club now its actually hard to imagine who can fill his shoes

Im guessing we will see Ernie Merrick or Kossie.

I'm just sad at the inevitable demise of the retro ricki shirt :( its probably not even appropriate to wear for the rest of the season

Jesus you really are a twat. If he has gone at least show the man some respect and fucking dignity. He may not have been your cup of tea but he has done his best for the club and worked under  some very difficult circumstances over a number of years

Personally I think that Ricki has been a very important person in the club but has undermined a lot of that being responsible for the absolute shower that has been served up over the last couple of months. It has been obvious to everyone that Ricki was unable to change anything in this time and this decision should have been made a long time ago
