Don’t shoot me down! But do we need to lift our game in the active zone? I see a lot of noise coming from the port already. Banners, Flags, chants, away trips planned. Do we need to have a rethink on how to take the active zone forward? Or are we happy as it is? Friendly thoughts team.

Each to their own I'd say. Get the feeling from afar that the Port is an older demographic on average than the Yellow Fever, with plenty of middle aged Englishmen. So hence the love of making up a flag and draping it from a stand.

But hey that's want you want some differences, and the Away fans at these derby games making their presence felt.

On the derby name thing, I must be an out of touch dinosaur as I don't find Kiwi Clasico hugely cringe. But then I've never been adverse to cringe as a rule. To me it's a bit take the piss. Like Flight of the Conchords was sort of modelled off Kiwi kitsch.

Here in Aussie, home of 'The Big Blue' I don't doubt it will catch on as the moniker for NZ's derby. This isn't Europe with serious proper club rivalries going back over 100 years, and football by far the dominant sport in town. Like the MLS we have start up franchise teams playing the code, in very competitive sports markets, where big marketing is required to win a fan's hard earned dollar. If Clasico sales pitch help grab the casuals attention so be it.

Actually I think the NZ derbies will garner a bit of interest here in Oztraylia. Novelty not seen in other comps with NZ teams like the NRL and NBL. Two Aussie coaches, some well known Oz players at AFC, mid afternoon AEDT kick offs with likely not much else on the telly, except some horses running around in circles, and the Baggy Greens thrashing whoever.
