booing is purely pantomime. We are doing it to professional sportspeople who are mentally very strong so it has no actual impact but it weirdly fun to do and it does help to create an atmosphere.
At the end of the day, no Phoenix supporter will want anything but the best for Paulson, because he came through our system into our first team, and those players are especially cherished by fans.
For 2 hours on Saturday though, he is the enemy (for want of a better word) and should be treated as such. At the end of the game I am sure he will give a wave to the Fever Zone and get a very generous response back. Then he can fly back to Auckland, reflecting on his team's first loss of the season.
