One thing I've been wondering is why the head clash was not looked at by VAR.

The cross comes in Wottoon heads it away, then he gets collected head to head by May when the ball is about two meters away from him. Coming in late and collecting a player head to head is pretty red to me, but I haven't seen anyone else with that take. Am I missing something here?

Sorry for quality can't screenshot skysportnow. This shows the moment of contact, the ball is above the player under the ninja sign.
