I'd vote for Leo's thunderbolt as #5. I don't care if it was deflected, it was amazing.

Then either
Bertos v Perth season 3
Smeltz v Adelaide season 1
Smeltz v perth season 1 (dec game) great cross from Lia
Greenacre v newcastle season 3
Dadi v Brisbane season 3
If non-competitive game goals count then there's probably be only one or two goals that people who weren't at the game saw.

It was pre season cup, which was pretty competitive - even had its own trophy.

Not Nix+management+media+Chinese players, or Nix+fill ins/triallists vs. local club team. It was against Melbourne Victory in Melbourne who had top players at their disposal.

We took it very seriously when we made the finals.

I know, but Daniel in particular has scored a number of stunning pre-season goals, as has Lia, Costa, Mulligan and even Tony P

Feverish too. Surprised he hasn't nominated himself.

Ive been reliving some of these goals on youtube, I had almost forgot how tragic our defending was, especially that first season.

Does nobody rate Smeltz's bullet of a header against Newcastle from a Hearfield cross in season 2?  The amount of power he got on it and how accurate it was was simply astounding!

We'd have to agree to disagree on this one I think, depends what macattackunited wants.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sYUYjSci4k Diverts the power of a good cross well, but not top 5, the only header I'd consider is his one in season 1 from Lia's volleyed cross against Perth.

I'd also consider Brown vs Sydney last season as pretty decent, maybe not top 5 but a good goal with the headband as well !!

That game was special, the match against the Cove the day before, singing "A Sony is better than a JVC" and Tim scoring his first Phoenix goal late on for the first win of the season.

I was at that game at a very cold Olympic Park. My first taste of the Nix and it was great. (except for the Star Trek tops) Terrific goal as well and i'd agree it's still one of our best.

Not a top goal but can someone confirm if Tim Brown's goal on Sunday was the first one this season scored with his non-head part of the body during regulation time (not including the penalty shoot-out)?

na hes scored at least one from his boot.  I remember Costa cut round the defender in the box and shot it but keeper parried it for Brown to kick in. Maybe against Newcastle in our 3-0 win?

Brown's goal against Melbourne earlier this season was a goodie too.  Off the foot if I remember rightly.

Replace the Bertos DEFLECTED strike with Greenarce's Newcastle finish.  IMHO.

Brown also scored with his boot against Gold Coast in the 6-0 win.  He rounded the keeper.

It wouldn't make any top 5, but I still love Brown's goal against Cold Ghost, the ball Ifill gave and Brown running over the half way line to take it and then round the keeper was joyful.
