I've also added points gained this time, which is really interesting, because there doesn't seem to be any correlation at all between the style played and the points gained. We seem to have gained about as many points trying to pass a lot as when we haven't.
I noticed that too, before I read your comment. Guess the only justification for passing the ball around a lot is to keep the fans who know nothing about football happy when they see that we had 60% possesion for the game.
The reason for passing the ball around is NOT to keep the fans happy, it is to stop the opposition getting it and scoring.
If we have the ball then they can't score. Pretty simple.
