Where is Lochhead, not even on the bench?

With only 3 outfield spots allowed on the bench you would be foolish to have a defender as one of them

Why?
What purpose would a defender offer from the bench? Hardly an impact player. At best you would bring them on and move someone from the back further up, but any manager would rather just bring on fresh legs for a more frontal position. Its easier to ask a full 90 of your defenders. This has been echoed many times by A-League coaches throughout the course of the competitions history, they all say the same thing. Look at all the benches any given A-League game and you'll notice a distinct lack of defensive players. If we had the benefit of maybe 4 or 5 spots on the bench, you could sneak a defender in to cover any injuries early in the game.

Why are you even asking? What purpose would a defender offer from the bench? Hardly an impact player. At best you would bring them on and move someone from the back further up, but any manager would rather just bring on fresh legs for a more frontal position.
