Elliotttt had a great world cup but I don't think he is what the Phoenix need. Surely It would make more sense to sign Clapham Ive watched him plenty of times in NZFC and he can make some players look very average. I enjoy watching Phoenix but Id love to see a creative Clapham playing in midfield. Maybe even a Roy Krishna up front.
Get your NZFC blinkers off. Both players have trained or trialled with the Phoenix and Ricki didn't like what he saw. Mulligan is tearing up the ASB Premiership, and we all know what he was like at the Phoenix. Elliotttt would do the same if he was playing amateur football. The fact he starts and is a standout on many occasions for the All Whites, proves that he is better than Clapham. Maybe one day we will sign the latter, but he's not better than Elliotttt, and Krishna is not even close to starting material.
Same with Toto. I watched him play at hutt park v NZ U21 I think it was and thought he looked quick, possiby very quick, enthusiastic, creative with a lot of good first touches and flicks that the other Nix players were too slow to anticipate. Plus prepared to work back in defense.
I'd be interested in why most on this forum seem to write of both of those guys. Maybe Toto hasn't stood up physically at practices. He's small. Dunno. And Mulligan could hardly have been worse than Hearfield and Sigmund trying to play right back.
