My recollection - which may well be wrong - is that Dura's signing was the later i.e. a competitive bidding situation.
I think there is an obvious difference between picking up a player unwanted by their current club at the end of their contract (i.e. a reject, e.g. Diego) and winning / losing a competitive bidding process for a player wanted by both their current and another interested club(s) e.g. Kosta and Smeltz.
