They are FIFA sanctioned friendlies and represent caps so they most definitely would stop him playing for Chile.
I thought they had to be competitive games to rule a player out of representing another country and a friendly, regardless of FIFA sanction, didn't constitute a competitive game.
Incidentally, what type of friendlies aren't FIFA sanctioned? Is that like when the All Whites played Blackburn and Sevilla(?)?
